Ils démontrent que les causes de cette litanie sont au- delà des seules conditions d'exercice de la fonction policière, ils mettent le doigt là où personne n'a encore osé le mettre en désignant les politiques du chiffre, le commandement et le management mais aussi les ambitions démesurées de quelques hiérarques aux dents longues et acérées pour lesquels la vie de ces flics semble ne pas compter. Mais les auteurs ne se contentent pas de dénoncer, ils apportent également leurs visions de ce que devrait être une vraie police républicaine et donnent leurs solutions pour tenter d'enrayer ce fléau au sein des effectifs de police. Les auteurs souhaitent que ce livre puisse aider les nombreux policiers en souffrance psychologique et qu'il éveille les consciences endormies
