The privileged link psychoanalysis has to spoken languages does not necessarily facilitate communication among analysts and psychotherapists of different mother tongues. The JEP European Journal of Psychoanalysis - which has been published since 1995 - seeks to overcome these linguistic barriers. It introduces the English reader to important European authors, as well as to authors of, for example, Latin American countries, whose paradigms are close to European "styles." Anyway the JEP European Journal of Psychoanalysis will publish not only translations, but also papers by English-speaking contributors whose works are close to European currents. The journal is not the official organ of any particular school. Material is chosen solely in terms of quality, originality and relevance to international debates in psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic fields. Similarly, significant, hard-to-pigeonhole authors and works falling outside any particular trend are also presented. The JEP European Journal of Psychoanalysis presents debates and trends within psychoanalysis and other related fields (including philosophical, anthropological, literary and historical contributions). Psychoanalysis has practical, ethical, and theoretical implications relevant not only to clinical practice, but also to politics and social policy, philosophy, cultural studies and the social sciences. This is why JEP has included papers by many authors who work (exclusively or also) in fields other than psychoanalysis, as well as authors mainly involved in clinical practice such as N. Braunstein, H. Bresheet, C. Castoriadis, V. Crapanzano, J. Cremerius, J. Derrida, F. Dolto, R. Girard, B. Grunberger, H. Kachele, O. Kernberg, B. Kilborne, J. Kristeva, P. Lacoue-Labarthe, J. Laplanche, S. Leclaire, J.-F. Lyotard, R. Major, I. Matte Blanco, J.-L. Nancy, D. Nobus, G. Obeyesekere, M. Perniola, P. Roazen, R. Rorty, E. Roudinesco, J. Searle, P. Valesio, F. Varela, G. Vattimo, J.-P. Vernant, Paul L. Wachtel, Y. H. Yerushalmi, S. i ek, etc. The journal provides an international forum for the exploration of the frontiers of psychoanalytic inquiry, giving voice to diverse perspectives, research, and clinical practice which link and transform the many partial understandings."

Toy Stories written by Vanessa Smith and has been published by Fordham Univ Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-05 with Literary Criticism categories.

Toy Stories: Analyzing the Child in Nineteenth-Century Literature explores the stakes of recurrent depictions of children’s violent, damaging, and tenuously restorative play with objects within a long nineteenth century of fictional and educational writing. As Vanessa Smith shows us, these scenes of aggression and anxiety cannot be squared with the standard picture of domestic childhood across that period. Instead, they seem to attest to the kinds of enactments of infant distress we would normally associate with post-psychoanalytic modernity, creating a ripple effect in the literary texts that nest them: regressing developmental narratives, giving new value to wooden characters, exposing Realism’s solid objects to odd fracture, and troubling distinctions between artificial and authentic interiority. Toy Stories is the first study to take these scenes of anger and overwhelm seriously, challenging received ideas about both the nineteenth century and its literary forms. Radically re-conceiving nineteenth-century childhood and its literary depiction as anticipating the scenes, theories, and methodologies of early child analysis, Toy Stories proposes a shared literary and psychoanalytic discernment about child’s play that in turn provides a deep context for understanding both the “development” of the novel and the keen British uptake of Melanie Klein’s and Anna Freud’s interventions in child therapy. In doing so, the book provides a necessary reframing of the work of Klein and Freud and their fractious disagreement about the interior life of the child and its object-mediated manifestations.

Traversals Of Affect written by Julie Gaillard and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-21 with Philosophy categories.

This volume traces the topic of affect across Lyotard's corpus and accounts for Lyotard's crucial and original contribution to the thinking of affect. Highlighting the importance of affect in Lyotard's philosophy, this work offers a unique contribution to both affect theory and the reception of Lyotard. Affect indeed traverses Lyotard's philosophical corpus in various ways and under various names: “figure” or “the figural” in Discourse, Figure, “unbound intensities” in his “libidinal” writings, “the feeling of the différend” in The Differend, “affect” and “infantia” in his later writings. Across the span of his work, Lyotard insisted on the intractability of affect, on what he would later call the “differend” between affect and articulation. The singular awakening of sensibility, affect both traverses and escapes articulation, discourse, and representation. Lyotard devoted much of his attention to the analysis of this traversal of affect in and through articulation, its transpositions, translations, and transfers. This volume explores Lyotard's account of affect as it traverses the different fields encompassed by his writings (philosophy, the visual arts, the performing arts, literature, music, politics, psychoanalysis as well as technology and post-human studies).

German Jewish Thought And Its Afterlife written by Vivian Liska and has been published by Indiana University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-19 with Literary Criticism categories.

InGerman-Jewish Thought and Its Afterlife,Vivian Liska innovatively focuses on the changing form, fate and function of messianism, law, exile, election, remembrance, and the transmission of tradition itself in three different temporal and intellectual frameworks: German-Jewish modernism, postmodernism, and the current period. Highlighting these elements of theJewish tradition in the works of Franz Kafka, Walter Benjamin, Gershom Scholem, Hannah Arendt, and Paul Celan, Liska reflects on dialogues and conversations between themandonthereception of their work. She shows how this Jewish dimension of their writings is transformed, but remains significant in the theories of Maurice Blanchot and Jacques Derrida and how it is appropriated, dismissed or denied by some of the most acclaimed thinkers at the turn of the twenty-first century such as Giorgio Agamben, Slavoj i ek, and Alain Badiou.

Psychologisation In Times Of Globalisation written by Jan De Vos and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-16 with Psychology categories.

Today more than ever, our understanding of ourselves, others and the world around us is described in psychological terms. Psychologists deeply influence our society, and psychological-discourse has invaded companies, advertising, culture, politics, and even our social and family life. Moreover, psychologisation has become a global process, applied to situations such as torture, reality TV and famine. This book analyses this ‘overflow of psychology’ in the three main areas of science, culture and politics. The concept of psychologisation has become crucial to current debates in critical psychology. De Vos combines these debates with insights from the fields of critical theory, philosophy and ideology critique, to present the first book-length argument that seriously considers the concept of psychologisation in these times of globalisation. The book contains numerous real-world examples making it an accessible and engaging analysis that should be of interest to researchers, postgraduates and undergraduate students of psychology and philosophy.
