John is at once the most complex and the easiest to understand of all the Gospels. And if we want to study an incredibly deep theological masterpiece that stretches the brightest mind, we open the Gospel of John. It is the most evangelistic account of Jesus' life and ministry, and it also gives the mature Christian deep theological truths to chew on. In John Verse by Verse, respected New Testament scholar Grant R. Osborne invites the reader to become caught up in the dramatic masterpiece of the Fourth Gospel. He writes, "If I were teaching a course in college or seminary on creative writing, John's Gospel would be set alongside Shakespeare as models of brilliant characterization and plot." It is perhaps Osborne's favorite book of the Bible, and enthusiasm for it shines on every page. The Osborne New Testament Commentaries, by respected professor and author Grant R. The Gospel of John, the fourth book of the New Testament, is in turn placed fourth in the order of the gospels. It is composed of approximately 18,000 words, organized into 21 Chapters and 879 verses in total. Terms such as Father (in reference to God), Jesus, abiding, knowing, truth, and life are frequent words that appear in this gospel more than in any other. Jesus is mentioned 250 times in total. and eight miracles of Him are presented (John chapters 2,4,5,6,9,11 and 21).This gospel is characterized by being different in style and theme to the other three gospels, (Matthew, Mark and Luke) these differences include chronologies, descriptions, details of a geographical nature and other aspects with respect to the synoptic gospels. Jesus of Nazareth is presented from the beginning as the Logos highlighting his eternity and deity. The Gospel of John contains many verses unparalleled in the synoptics, even the sections or accounts that do have similar or parallel in Matthew, Mark, or Luke are told differently. The author, according to tradition, was John the apostle and has been dated to about 90 A.C., there are those who question this through observations about the apparent lack of unity in its conclusion, its style, and the estimated date of writing. The Gospel of John is a writing for edification and meditation that can be read in full in 1hs 5 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to discover. I wish to present to you a simple sketch of this wonderful God-inspired book, "The Gospel of John". Mario Alsina

Revelation written by Grant R. Osborne and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-17 with Religion categories.

The Book of Revelation contains some of the most difficult passages in Scripture. Grant Osborne's commentary on Revelation interprets the text while also introducing readers to the perspectives of contemporary scholarship in a clear and accessible manner. Osborne begins with a thorough introduction to Revelation and the many difficulties involved in its interpretation. He discusses authorship, date of writing, and the social and cultural setting of the work. He also examines elements that complicate the interpretation of apocalyptic literature, including the use of symbols and figures of speech, Old Testament allusions, and the role of prophetic prediction. Osborne surveys various approaches commentators have taken on whether Revelation refers primarily to the past or to events that are yet future. Rather than exegeting the text narrowly in a verse-by-verse manner, Osborne examines larger sections in order to locate and emphasize the writer's central message and the theology found therein. Throughout, he presents his conclusions in an accessible manner. When dealing with particularly problematic sections, he considers the full range of suggested interpretations and introduces the reader to a broad spectrum of commentators. Revelation seeks to reach a broad audience with scholarly research from a decidedly evangelical perspective.
