Log Data Acquisition And Quality Control written by Philippe P. Theys and has been published by Editions TECHNIP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Technology & Engineering categories.

While the first well logs recorded seventy years ago had no provision for data quality control, the development of increasingly sophisticated logging techniques has led to the introduction of a large number of tests to validate acquired data. Log quality can be assured by stringent control of depth, calibrations, signal processing and operating procedures. This work gives a thorough description of these features. The meaningful interpretation of well logs depends on valid input. An understanding of log acquisition, and the performance of rigorous quality checks are the prerequisites for an accurate evaluation of a formation. These elements also enable log users to make decisions based on calculated risks. The book is primarily written for earth science specialists who use log data. It also addresses the needs of logging engineers who seek a better understanding of the log acquisition process. Exercises and their solutions are scattered in the book to complement practical chapters. Contents : I. Premises. 1. Introduction. 2. Evaluation of hydrocarbon volume. 3. Data collection and decision-making. 4. Elements of metrology I: error analysis. 5. Elements of metrology II: volume considerations. 6. Elements of metrology III: other attributes. 7. Characterization And Properties Of Petroleum Fractions written by M. R. Riazi and has been published by ASTM International this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The last three chapters of this book deal with application of methods presented in previous chapters to estimate various thermodynamic, physical, and transport properties of petroleum fractions. In this chapter, various methods for prediction of physical and thermodynamic properties of pure hydrocarbons and their mixtures, petroleum fractions, crude oils, natural gases, and reservoir fluids are presented. As it was discussed in Chapters 5 and 6, properties of gases may be estimated more accurately than properties of liquids. Theoretical methods of Chapters 5 and 6 for estimation of thermophysical properties generally can be applied to both liquids and gases; however, more accurate properties can be predicted through empirical correlations particularly developed for liquids. When these correlations are developed with some theoretical basis, they are more accurate and have wider range of applications. In this chapter some of these semitheoretical correlations are presented. Methods presented in Chapters 5 and 6 can be used to estimate properties such as density, enthalpy, heat capacity, heat of vaporization, and vapor pressure. Characterization methods of Chapters 2-4 are used to determine the input parameters needed for various predictive methods. One important part of this chapter is prediction of vapor pressure that is needed for vapor-liquid equilibrium calculations of Chapter 9.

The history of the United States of America is also the history of the energy sector. Natural gas provides the fuel that allows us to heat our homes in winter and cool them in summer with the touch of a button or turn of a dial—when the industry runs smoothly. From the oil crisis of the 1970s to the fall of Enron and the California electricity crisis at the turn of the century to contemporary issues of hydraulic fracking, poorly conceived government policies have sometimes left us shivering, stranded, or with significantly lighter wallets. In this expansive narrative, Charles Blanchard traces the rise of natural gas and the regulatory missteps that nearly ruined the market. Beginning in the 1880s, The Extraction State explains how the New Deal regulatory compact came together in the 1920s, even before the Great Depression, and how it fell apart in the 1970s. From there, the book dissects the policies that affect us today, and explores where we might be headed in the near future.
