Bijan was born in 1961 in Tehran, Iran. Although he was a brilliant student in his early and middle school years he lost his interest in academic studies to the degree that he quit college twice and returned to the spiritualism and mysticism instead. By the rise of the Islamic regime in 1979 in Iran his life began to drastically change where it took him to some of the darkest and most unimaginable places and situations he could have ever thought of. Was he eventually able to overcome his challenges?! He paid a heavy price to find the answer to this question. Bijan currently lives in Toronto-Canada. He is the founder and leader of the Generation 8, an organization reaching out to Iranians all over the world through modern art, music, and media.

In Journey to Ixtlan, Carlos Castaneda introduces readers to this new approach for the first time and explores, as he comes to experience it himself, his own final voyage into the teachings of don Juan, sharing with us what it is like to truly “stop the world” and perceive reality on his own terms. Originally drawn to Yaqui Indian spiritual leader don Juan Matus for his knowledge of mind-altering plants, bestselling author Carlos Castaneda immersed himself in the sorcerer’s magical world entirely. Ten years after his first encounter with the shaman, Castaneda examines his field notes and comes to understand what don Juan knew all along—that these plants are merely a means to understanding the alternative realities that one cannot fully embrace on one’s own.

The Literature Of The Iranian Diaspora written by Sanaz Fotouhi and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-03 with Literary Criticism categories.

The 1979 Revolution in Iran caused the migration of millions of Iranians, many of whom wrote, and are still writing, of their experiences. Formed at the junctions of Iranian culture, English language and Western cultures, this body of work has not only formed a unique literary space, offering an insightful reflection of Iranian diasporic experiences and its shifting nature, but it has also been making a unique and understudied contribution to World Literatures in English as significant as Indian, African and Asian writing in English. Sanaz Fotouhi here traces the origins of the emerging body of diasporic Iranian literature in English, and uses these origins to examine the socio-political position and historical context from which they have emerged. Fotouhi brings together, introduces and analyses, for the first time, a significant range of diasporic Iranian writers alongside each other and alongside other diasporic literatures in English. While situating this body of work through existing theories such as postcolonialism, Fotouhi sheds new light on the role of Iranian literature and culture in Western literature by showing that these writings distinctively reflect experiences unique to the Iranian diaspora. Analysing the relationship between Iranians and their new surroundings, by drawing on theories of migration, narration and identity, Fotouhi examines how the literature borne out of the Iranian diaspora reconstructs, maintains and negotiates their Individual and communal identities and reflects today's socio-political realities. This book will be vital for researchers of Middle Eastern literature and its relationship with writings from the West, as well as those interested in the cultural history of the Middle East.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Carlos Castaneda’s books. Tales of Power has brought us closer to understanding the teaching behind all the magic.” —The New York Times Book Review Bestselling author Carlos Castaneda’s groundbreaking works exploring the inspirational teachings of Yaqui spiritual leader don Juan Matus have enchanted millions of readers. With each lesson Castaneda gleans from his enigmatic teacher, he perceives a new reality based on the sorcerer’s mystical world. Tales of Power is the dynamic and captivating conclusion to don Juan’s teachings, where he imparts his most powerful and mysterious wisdom with a dazzling series of visions that are at once a spiritual initiation and a deeply moving farewell. His insights are paving the direction for the future evolution of human consciousness.” —Deepak Chopra “The present book takes Carlos to the edge of the abyss itself, on an excursion into the unknown (the nagual) that represents the death of his personal, historical self (his tonal). Don Juan, his patient teacher, and don Genaro, his lively, acrobatic benefactor, must say farewell to him. They cannot help him any longer: he is totally alone, free, a warrior at last . . . Like all art . . . the work resists and transcends conventional categories of labeling.” —Psychology Today “Hypnotic reading.” —Time “One of the important statements of our time.” —Book World
