The object of this report is to offer an analysis of the sounds observed in the jungles of the Canal Zone between October 1944 and January 1945. This period includes the last of the rainy season and the beginning of the dry season. The report is illustrated with a phonograph record of the general sounds picked up by a microphone set at various times in different types of jungle areas. It is illustrated also by a phonograph record of the constituent parts of the conglomerate sound, picked up by a microphone usually set in a parabolic reflector and carefully aimed at the source of each sound. In each case it was ascertained that the source was close enough and loud enough to be readily identifiable above all other sounds. In each case the source of the sound was definitely traced - the creature making it definitely identified on the spot or collected (in the case of insects and amphibia) to be identified later by a specialist. The jungle sounds are divided into those of inanimate and those of animate origin. In some places and at certain times such inanimate sounds as wind or rain, the running water of streams, thunder, the falling of trees of branches, or even the sound of the falling leaves of palms or certain other jungle trees completely outweigh the volume of sound from animate sources. In other places and at other times the inanimate sounds are insignificant. (Author).

Years of tradition crashed around the ears of Celtic supporters when the Jungle was demolished and replaced by seating to conform with the Taylor Report. It might never have been the most attractive setting in which to watch football but to the fans who occupied the gentle slopes under the covered North Enclosure it was as familiar as their own living-room. To them it was the nerve-centre of all that was good about their team and about Scottish football in general. There they had gathered to witness the great dramas unfold, the star players weave their artistry, and there they experienced the nerve-jangling, magical nights as Celtic joined the ranks of great European sides in the 1960s. John Quinn spent months interviewing the people who shaped the history of the Jungle. Star players past and present describe their favourite memories and the fans themselves recall the scenes indelibly etched in their minds. Jungle Tales is an exercise in pure nostalgia. It is in many ways a book by the fans for the fans as they reminisce over past glories and long for the days when they will return.

Welcome To The Jungle A Creative Analysis Of How Surround Recorded Ambiences Can Enhance Storytelling In Visual Media written by Lisa LaFountaine and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Ambient sounds categories.

The goal of filmmaking is to immerse viewers into the heart of a story, making them think, feel, and believe as if they are a part of the world being created. Just like picture, soundtrack is an integral part of the immersive experience. The incorporation of surround and immersive sound as a mixing standard for film allows the audience to be stimulated aurally from a multitude of angles. Sound for media is a constantly growing medium, with standards expanding to include more surround channels, height channels, ceiling channels, subwoofers, and most importantly, independent audio. Mixing within these vast spatial canvases allow for more opportunities to include complex scenes of ambient moments, devoid of film score, sound effects, and dialogue. These ambient moments are more often than not re-recorded and mixed after the initial on-scene filming and recordings take place. This project will record two different ambient settings: a waterfront and a cityscape, using a surround microphone array. Once brought back to the studio, two mixes of each scene will be created: one mix using the natural, on-location surround recording, and one mix using only pre-recorded sound effects found in online libraries. This creative and analytical thesis will explore if recording on-location ambiences using surround microphone arrays will enhance the realism of a scene.

Like the famed theme park attraction and brand-new feature film that this volume examines, The Making of Disney’s Jungle Cruise takes readers on a unique and fascinating journey. It’s an odyssey through the history and legacy of one of the most original ideas ever to come out of Walt Disney’s fertile mind, first planned for the opening of his revolutionary new theme park in 1955. This book travels from the debut of what was called the Jungle River Cruise on Disneyland’s opening day, through the arrival at long last of the thrilling feature film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.On Disneyland’s opening day of July 17, 1955, the park’s first guests boarded authentically styled riverboats to take the first Jungle Cruises. This unique riverboat-themed attraction in Adventureland takes visitors on a short journey down expertly simulated versions of the most prominent tropical rivers of the world, including the Amazon and the Nile, to witness wild animals, exotic sights, and thrills only a handful of intrepid real-world explorers had experienced in the past. A hilarious (and “punny”) Jungle Cruise skipper narrates all the sights and action from beginning to end. This Jungle Cruise experience would ultimately be woven into three other Disney parks, where the ride was likewise an opening-day attraction—simulating comedic high-adventure cruises through rivers in the continents of South America, Africa, and Asia. Fast-forward decades and, at long last, production on the movie commenced. The project was influenced by director Jaume Collet-Serra’s love of The African Queen, Indiana Jones films, and Romancing the Stone, among others, and built on the foundation of key elements of the theme park attraction. From the re-creation of the Amazon River to the film’s hilarious take on famous skipper puns and the reams of Easter eggs for longtime fans, the Jungle Cruise movie captures the same excitement and joy as the theme park attraction, and
