What the critics are saying about Just Wait Until We Get Home: "It looks like a really great book...judging it by its cover. I haven't actually read it yet, but I hope to soon."--Boston Accent & Times Tribune "A subtle murder mystery with deep, complex characters and an interesting, involved subplot make this story a real suspense-filled page turner...or no, wait, hold the line a second, that's a different book entirely. Uhm, I believe we have some sort of mix up here. Sorry about that. Nevermind!"--Southern Drawl & Globe Gazette "The book Just Wait Until We Get Home! is an abomination. It is in no way representative of the people of the great Midwest, the heartland of our country. We are not all vandals and criminals. I think Tristram Hoosier should get a day job."--Midwestern Twang & Town Crier In Tristram Hoosier's second book about his family and growing up in Gary, Indiana, a neighbor's garage burns down, a grandmother reminisces about how Tristram's great-grandfather was arrested during Prohibition, an aunt makes a drug bust, a neighbor kid builds a real, working cannon in metal shop and a church bake sale turns into a disaster. Just Wait Until We Get Home! clearly illustrates that it's never too early to start procrastinating.

Words Of Passage written by Hilary Parsons Dick and has been published by University of Texas Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-01 with Social Science categories.

Migration fundamentally shapes the processes of national belonging and socioeconomic mobility in Mexico—even for people who never migrate or who return home permanently. Discourse about migrants, both at the governmental level and among ordinary Mexicans as they envision their own or others’ lives in “El Norte,” generates generic images of migrants that range from hardworking family people to dangerous lawbreakers. These imagined lives have real consequences, however, because they help to determine who can claim the resources that facilitate economic mobility, which range from state-sponsored development programs to income earned in the North. Words of Passage is the first full-length ethnography that examines the impact of migration from the perspective of people whose lives are affected by migration, but who do not themselves migrate. Hilary Parsons Dick situates her study in the small industrial city of Uriangato, in the state of Guanajuato. She analyzes the discourse that circulates in the community, from state-level pronouncements about what makes a “proper” Mexican to working-class people’s talk about migration. Dick shows how this migration discourse reflects upon and orders social worlds long before—and even without—actual movements beyond Mexico. As she listens to men and women trying to position themselves within the migration discourse and claim their rights as “proper” Mexicans, she demonstrates that migration is not the result of the failure of the Mexican state but rather an essential part of nation-state building.

The Trouble Boy written by Tom Dolby and has been published by Kensington Publishing Corp. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-02 with Fiction categories.

In the tradition of Bright Lights, Big City and Less Than Zero, Tom Dolby has written a searing debut novel about going after what you really want without losing yourself in the process. Powerfully written, keenly felt, The Trouble Boy heralds an exciting new voice in fiction. "This is about fame and celebrity and the lengths to which people will go to have a taste of it. . ." At twenty-two, Toby Griffin wants it all--fame, fortune, an Oscar-winning screenplay and a good-looking boyfriend by his side. For now, what he's got is a freelance writing job at a tanking online magazine, a walk-up sublet in the East Village and "the boys," a young posse of preppy Upper East Siders with a taste for high fashion, top-shelf liquor and other men. But for Toby, downing vodka cranberries and falling in and out of lust with a series of guys he knows as Subway Boy, Loft Boy and Goth Boy is getting old. That all changes when Toby gets the chance of a lifetime--working as a personal assistant to hip, ruthless film mogul, Cameron Cole. In this decadent, drug-fueled world of VIP lounges, endless networking and relentless hype, Toby discovers that nothing is what is seems and that anything and anyone can be spun into PR gold. Though he's making friends with all the right people. Toby realizes that succeeding in Manhattan isn't as easy as he thought--until the one tragic night that changes his future forever and puts him in a position of power he never could have imagined. But with Toby's name suddenly becoming Page Six material, his life is coming unglued. And as his professional contacts betray him and his friends reveal troubling secrets, his choices become that much harder--and that much more important. Now, in his first year on his own, Toby Griffin is about to learn the price of getting everything he ever wanted. "What really makes Toby's world so familiar--along with the author's lively, often-hilarious eye for even the most mundane social details--is the crisp prose and the snappy story." -- The San Francisco Chronicle

Sowell Swift miraculously recovered from an electro-chemical accident, and upon regaining consciousness, he discovered that his mind function and his muscular capabilities had become extraordinarily accurate and quick. Utilizing his newly-developed powers, he becomes an outstanding scholar, musician, and athlete throughout his remaining three years of high school. Not long after graduating, Sowell entered professional baseball and was soon playing for a leading New York team. "So Swift - Vol. I" takes the readers with Sowell through his first year in professional baseball, letting them vicariously experience his personal life and emotional involvements, as well. His primary participation interests are languages and vocal music. If you hadn't already guessed, Mr. Austin would tell you that he didn't have time to write, until after he retired.
