Di kalangan fundamentalis Muslim, demokrasi dianggap sekular, sedangkan di kalangan sekularis, demokrasi dianggap tidak memiliki korelasi hubungan dengan Islam. Namun dalam buku ini, ditampilkan bahwa demokrasi adalah bukan sekular dan sekularisme tidaklah identik dengan demokrasi, namun demokrasi bisa paralel dengan Islam.
