Excerpt from Kindesseele aus Kindermund: Psychographische Beitrage zur Psychologie und Ethik des Kindes Schon immer ist es mir aufs Herz gefallen, dass wir bei unserer padagogischen Arbeit so wenig davon erfahren, welche Reaktion von seiten des Kindes auf unsere Aktion erfolgt, vor allem im Hinblick auf unsere erzieherische Tatigkeit. Je mehr ich dieser Frage nachging, desto mehr erkannte ich, dass man die Kinder zunachst zu volligem Vertrauen gegen ihren Lehrer bringen muss, damit sie ihre Rolle aufgeben, denn in Wirklichkeit spielen sie in der Schule die Rolle, die man ihnen aufnoti> es sind unfreiwillige Schauspieler. Hat man die Schuler so weit gebracht, dass sie die Maske fallen lassen, dann drucken sie sich allerdings zuweilen urwuchsig aus, wie wir es in der Schule nicht gewohnt sind. Daruber sei man jedoch nicht angstlich, das gibt sich von selbst, und fur meine vorwiegend auf das Psychologische gehende Absicht ist es sogar besonders wertvoll; beweist es doch, dass die Schule nicht als Autoritat auf ihnen lastete, dass wir hier einmal wirklich freie Ausserungen der Kinder vor uns haben, und aus diesem Grunde sind gerade die kraftigsten Ausdrucke nicht unterdruckt worden. Ich habe geglaubt, dieses Material nicht zuruckhalten zu sollen, zumal jetzt, wo die Psychographie an dem konkreten Einzelgeschehen interessiert ist. So will diese Kinderpsychologie das anschauliche Material selbst bieten. Es ist naturlich durch meinen Arbeitskreis bedin> daraus folgt eine gewisse Ungleichheit der Teile. Andererseits wollte ich aber doch das'ganze Kindesleben, wenn auch in skizzenhafter Form, uberblicken. Bei den Ausfuhrungen uber die Kindersprache und uber die erste psychische Entwicklung habe ich mich an Wundt angeschlossen. Dass man neben der Praxis auch uber die allgemeine Psychologie orientiert sei, wird man von dem Verfasser einer solchen Arbeit fordern mussen.
