Pengembangan ekonomi Islam di Indonesia telah diadopsi ke dalam kerangka besar kebijakan ekonomi. Bank Indonesia sebagai otoritas perbankan di tanah air telah menetapkan perbankan syariah sebagai salah satu pilar penyangga dual banking system dan mendorong pangsa pasar bank syariah yang lebih luas. Bank Syariah merupakan merupakan salah satu perangkat dalam ekonomi Islam. Sedangkan, tujuan ekonomi Islam adalah pencapaian maqasid syariah dengan cara mewujudkan keadilan masyarakat (Sudrajad dan Sodiq, 2016). Tujuan pendirian bank syariah, sebagai bank yang operasionalnya berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip syariah, adalah sebagai berikut: 1) mengarahkan kegiatan ekonomi ummat untuk bermu’amalat secara Islam, khususnya muamalat yang berhubungan dengan perbankan, agar terhindar dari praktik- praktik riba atau jenis-jenis usaha/perdagangan lain yang mengandung unsur gharar (tipuan), dimana jenis usaha tersebut selain di larang dalam Islam, juga telah menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap kehidupan ekonomi rakyat; 2) Untuk menciptakan suatu keadilan di bidang ekonomi dengan jalan meratakan pendapatan melalui kegiatan investasi, agar tidak terjadi kesenjangan yang sangat besar antara pemilik modal dengan pihak membutuhkan dana; 3) Untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup ummat dengan jalan membuka peluang berusaha yang lebih besar terutama kelompok miskin, yang di arahkan kepada kegiatan usaha yang produktif, menuju terciptanya kemandirian usaha.

This paper focuses on the corporate governance arrangements of institutions offering Islamic financial services (IIFS) aimed at protecting stakeholders' financial interests. Many IIFS corporate governance issues are common with those of their conventional counterparts. Others are distinctive. In particular they offer unrestricted investment accounts that share risks with shareholders but without a voting right. This paper first reviews internal and external arrangements put in place by IIFS to protect stakeholders' financial interests. It discusses shortcomings notably in terms of potential conflict of interest between shareholders and holders of unrestricted investment accounts. It then suggests a corporate governance framework that combines internal and external arrangements to provide safeguards to unrestricted investment account holders without overburdening IIFS' financial performance. The paper uses a review of 13 IIFS and regulatory information from countries where IIFS have developed the most.

The Muqaddimah (ألمقدمة), often translated as "Introduction" or "Prolegomenon," is the most important Islamic history of the premodern world. Written by the great fourteenth-century Arab scholar Ibn Khaldun (d. 1406), this monumental work established the foundations of several fields of knowledge, including the philosophy of history, sociology, ethnography, and economics. The first complete English translation, by the eminent Islamicist and interpreter of Arabic literature Franz Rosenthal, was published in three volumes in 1958 as part of the Bollingen Series and received immediate acclaim in the United States and abroad.
