Die Arbeitsschritte in der kompetenzorientierten Familienarbeit (KOFA) mit den dazugehörenden theoretischen Grundlagen, Instrumenten, Methoden und Techniken werden systematisch eingeführt und mit Übungsbeispielen veranschaulicht. Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der nunmehr vier KOFA-Interventionsmodule «KOFA-6-Wochen», «KOFA-6-Monate», «KOFA-6-Monate-PLUS» sowie «KOFA-Schule» werden dargestellt, und die Frage der Indikation für diese Module wird erörtert. Die Grundlagen für die Implementierung der KOFA-Methodik in Organisationen sowie der Aufbau und die Arbeitsweise eines KOFA-Teams bilden den Schluss des Manuals. Zusammen mit Vorgaben für die Evaluation mit Follow-up-Instrumenten wird ersichtlich, wie die KOFA-Methodik die Struktur-, Prozess- und Ergebnisqualität der aufsuchenden Familienarbeit sicherstellen kann.
