Kommunikation über kulturelle Grenzen hinweg ist das ideologisch-politische Programm des indischen Staates seit seiner Gründung (Unity in Diversity), jedoch hat die Öffnung der indischen Ökonomie und Märkte vor anderthalb Jahrzehnten zu einer Konfrontation der indischen Gesellschaft mit anderen Gesellschaften und Kulturen geführt wie nie zuvor. Die technischen Errungenschaften der neuen Medien haben zudem die Kommunikation erheblich erleichtert. Die Fremdsprachen-Abteilungen der Universitäten im Lande haben infolgedessen eine qualitative Verschiebung in ihrer Zielsetzung erlebt: nicht nur das Verständnis von gedruckten Texten in Fremdsprachen ist heute von Relevanz sondern zunehmend auch die Gesellschaften und Kulturen, in denen diese Sprachen gesprochen werden. Vor diesem Hintergrund organisierte die German Section of the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Pune, eine internationale interdisziplinäre Konferenz in Pune (7.-9. Januar 2008), bei der verschiedene praktische sowie theoretische Ansätze vorgestellt wurden, die den Prozess und die Mechanismen der interkulturellen Verständigung analysieren.Diese Publikation ist eine Sammlung von Beiträgen, die im Rahmen dieser Konferenz entstanden sind; sie stellen gegenwärtige theoretische Positionen, Forschungsmethoden sowie die Praxis der interkulturellen Kommunikation vor.

Nur demjenigen, der eine Lizenz und eine Frequenz hatte, war es möglich zu senden. Mit der Etablierung des Internet als globales Kommunikationsmedium wurde jedem die Chance geboten, Radio zu machen. Bereits existierende Radiosender lassen sich nun nicht ausschließlich über das Radio, sondern auch über das Internet empfangen. Der Empfang wird dadurch auch Hörern ermöglicht, die das Programm weder terrestrisch noch über Satellit empfangen können. Zudem gibt es Radiosender, die man ausschließlich über das Internet empfangen kann sowie Internetradios, auch Bitcaster genannt, die mit den neuen Kommunikationstechnologien ihr Programm wiederum ins terrestrische Radio übertragen. Diese neue Form von Radio, das sogenannte "dezentrale" Radio, steht noch ganz am Anfang der Entwicklung und hält, was die Kommunikation betrifft, eine Reihe neuer Möglichkeiten offen. Die Veränderungen, die in den letzten Jahren in Hinblick auf die Nutzung und Bedeutung von Radio zu beobachten waren sowie die daraus resultierenden Möglichkeiten aufzuzeigen, bildet den Leitgedanken dieser Arbeit. Es soll deutlich werden, dass sich mit den technischen Fortschritten völlig neue Strukturen ergeben haben, die sich kaum noch mit dem Begriff Radio definieren lassen. Diese andere, neue Form von Radio, ermöglicht den Einblick in die bisher noch unerforschte Welt neuer Kommunikationssysteme und hält viele neue Wege im Bereich der Informationsvermittlung bereit.

The question of why the cooperation of Jews with the Persian and Ptolemaic empires achieved some success and why it failed with regard to the Seleucids and the Romans, even turning into military hostility against them, has not been sufficiently answered. The present volume intends to show, from the perspectives of Hebrew Bible, Judaic, and Ancient History Studies, that the contrasting Jewish attitudes towards foreign powers were not only dependent on specific political circumstances. They were also interrelated with the emergence of multiple early Jewish identities, which all found a basis in the Torah, the prophets, or the psalms.
