Kurator dan Pengurus pada prinsipnya merupakan profesi yang terkait erat dengan pekerjaan untuk membereskan dan mengurus proses kepailitan dan/atau penundaan kewajiban pembayaran utang atas diri perseorangan atau badan usaha (baik yang berbadan hukum ataupun tidak), yang telah diputuskan oleh Pengadilan Niaga dalam keadaan pailit atau penundaan kewajiban pembayaran utang. Profesi ini diatur UU RI No. 37 Tahun 2004 tentang Kepailitan dan Penundaan Kewajiban Pembayaran Utang. Kurator maupun Pengurus dituntut bertindak secara independen (mandiri/tidak boleh dicampuri oleh pihak lain). Seorang Kurator maupun Pengurus harus menghindarkan diri dari benturan kepentingan. Dalam hal ini kelangsungan keberadaan Kurator dan/atau Pengurus tidak boleh tergantung pada debitur atau kreditor, serta tidak memiliki kepentingan ekonomis yang sama dengan debitur atau kreditor. Buku ini memuat pembahasan yang bersifat teoretis-praktis yang wajib diketahui oleh setiap Kurator dan Pengurus selama menjalankan tugas pemberesan atas harta pailit dan/atau pengurusan harta Debitur selama masa penundaan kewajiban pembayaran utang.
