Transparenz meint die Durchschaubarkeit und damit Verstehbarkeit von unterrichtlichen Zielen, Prozessen und Ergebnissen, bezieht sich im schulpädagogischen Kontext aber auch auf schulorganisatorische Strukturen und Prozesse. Transparenz beinhaltet große Chancen im Hinblick auf die Motivation und die Beteiligung. Intransparenz bedeutet oftmals Machtanhäufung und manchmal auch Machtmissbrauch im Unterricht und in der Schule. Dennoch ist die Transparenz-Thematik sehr ambivalent zu analysieren: Im Unterricht und in der Schule müssen auch eigene, dem handelnden Subjekt vorbehaltene Räume und Privatsphären erhalten bleiben, um den ‚gläsernen Schüler‘ bzw. den ‚gläsernen Lehrer‘ zu vermeiden. Erst ein gut ausbalanciertes Verhältnis von Transparenz und Intransparenz kann zu lernförderlichen Bedingungen und identitätsgeleiteten Handlungsstrategien im herrschaftsbezogenen Kontext der Schule führen.
