Kris: The Elephant at Sea is the second adventure of Kris the Elephant. The first adventure is illustrated in the book Elephant Escapes to an Island. The book also depicts some of the cultural celebrations of southern India. While everybody enjoys the students' demonstrations of their understanding of the culture and traditions in dramatic play, the Somali pirates take control of the ship and take hostage all American students and teachers.
