While considered a myth and legend, some would say they exist, but they are as rare as any creature there is in the world. Though some would claim to have seen them, no real evidence would point out that such creatures exist in reality. However, there are those that claim that unicorns exist, albeit in a much more different form. Some say that unicorns exist in the NBA. In the NBA, a unicorn is far from the one-horned legendary creature. But due to their rarity, they are still somewhat considered myths. While they may not be horses, an NBA unicorn is a player that could play the power forward and center position due to their size, height, and length, but could move as fluidly and quickly as guards and smaller forwards. Not only do they resemble smaller players on the court due to their athletic abilities, but they also have the skills to boot. Many players considered as unicorns can spot up on the perimeter or outside the three-point area to shoot jumpers or dribble the ball all the way to the basket themselves like guards do. What makes a unicorn unique is that they are matchup nightmares for their defenders. A seven-foot big man that could shoot three-pointers with precision would make their defenders think twice about staying in the paint, leaving their matchup wide open. A big man that could move like a guard could blow past slower defenders on their way to the basket. And when unicorns get the treatment of being guarded by smaller and quicker perimeter defenders, they would simply post them up inside to make use of their superior size. As rare as unicorns are, there have been players that fit the bill. All-time great center Hakeem Olajuwon was so graceful down at the low post and so mobile for his size that he could be called a unicorn. Another one is Kevin Garnett, who stands at least seven feet tall, moved fluidly, and had the skills of a guard. While unicorns were rare back in the day, the evolution of the NBA towards a more perimeter-oriented game has paved the way for the rise of several more unicorns. In 1984, the Bulls were entering their 19th year as a franchise when they signed Michael Jeffrey Jordan to a contract. Lest anyone forget, the pre-Jordan Bulls sported some very good teams that included some very good players like Guy Rodgers, Bob Love, Chet Walker, Tom Boerwinkle, Jerry Sloan, Norm Van Lier, and Artis Gilmore. Their play brought winning seasons, plenty of loud excitement and hope at the Stadium, but alas none of those teams reached the Finals. By the time His Airness took the floor, the Bulls hadn't seen the playoffs in 3 years and the 1983-84 version lost twice as many games as they won. Jordan brought the team respect, but it took a total of 6 seasons, a coaching change, and a shrewd GM to make great draft choices and add role players for the club to hoist the hardware and raise the Bulls' first championship banner. This was the first of 6 (two three-peats). The heroes were many: Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, John Paxson, Bill Cartwright, Steve Kerr, Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, and Toni Kukoc. And Jordan? The 5X NBA MVP was voted Finals MVP all 6 times. The tough times that followed included more coaching changes. But there were also some personal successes: two Bulls won Rookie of the Year honors (the second of the two was voted league MVP), another won a 6th Man Award (his rookie season), a fan-favorite from Duke made the 2011-12 All-Defense team, and a 7-foot center from Florida won the 2012-13 NBA Player of the Year. Yes, there were good times as well (think Bench Mob!). The current 2021-2022 Bulls, led by coach Billy Donovan, entered the playoffs with the addition of All NBA (2nd Team) forward DeMar DeRozan, Olympian Zach LeVine, center Nikola Vucevic, 3rd year guard Coby White, and rookie guard Ayu Dosunmu. This was truly DeRozan's year - tying NBA record first set by Larry Bird (1985) and breaking another set by Wilt Chamberlain in the 1960s. What's included? Year-by year Standings, Club news, draft choices, player trades, dozens of season games and all post-season summaries. For more context: there's League news, noteworthy league games, stat leaders, year-end award winners, and Finals outcomes.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 Sam Hinkie, the general manager of the Sixers, was hired in 2013 to rebuild the team. In 2006, King had decided to trade Allen Iverson, one of the league’s premier scorers, to the Denver Nuggets. He called Iverson and told him that he was going to be a Nugget. #2 Brown had brought King with him to Philadelphia nine years earlier. The Sixers had a young, transcendent star in Allen Iverson. But they hadn’t won anything in 16 years, and their new owners were unwilling to accept such results. #3 Iverson and Brown were constantly bickering, and Iverson would rarely if ever lift weights or care about his appearance. He would often show up to practices late and smelling of alcohol. #4 That summer, the Sixers and Iverson came to an agreement: Iverson would remain a Sixer for now. In a few months, they would be very thankful that he was.
