První ze tří oddílů zahrnuje práce věnované francouzské literatuře. Po studii o vývoji motivu svatého grálu ve francouzské středověké artušovské literatuře jsou do něho zařazeny studie věnované Raymondu Queneauovi a Samuelovi Beckettovi, dvěma osobnostem, jež výrazně ovlivnily tematické volby a narativní postupy moderní prózy. Druhý oddíl soustřeďuje práce italianistické. První studie je věnována nejvýznamnějšímu zjevu romantické periody Giacomu Leopardimu, v následující stati je zvažována možnost aplikace slohového označení "biedermeier" na italský materiál, dvě závěrečné studie analyzují na příkladu krepuskolárních básníků a marinettiovského futurismu italskou cestu k avantgardnímu modernismu. Do třetího oddílu jsou zařazeny práce komparatistického charakteru, mapující především italsko-české a francouzsko-české literární vztahy (recepce Francesca Petrarky, "marinismus" v české barokní poezii, dandyovská estetika Arthura Breiského), práce věnované českým autorům (Hrabal, Holan) a příspěvky k historii českého překladu. Do posledního oddílu jsou vyčleněny studie věnované výrazným postavám novodobé literární vědy (Leo Spitzer, Tzvetan Todorov, Claudio Magris).
