Sculpture Projects Muenster 07 written by Westfälisches Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Münster and has been published by Walther Konig Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Art categories.

Been to enough biennials? Skulptur Projekte Münster only happens every 10 years. This, its fourth iteration (following 1977, 1987 and 1997), invites artists from all over the world--many of whom are returning to the city and the event--to create new site-specific works. Thus Michael Asher brings back his trailer and parks in sites he first sussed out in 1977, continuing to explore the conflicts between rigid form and mobile space, and to document the dramatic transformation of the urban environment over four decades. Guy Ben-Ner equips bicycles with screens and places them around the city; by pedaling, participants control the speed and direction of a film of the artist doing the same. Guillaume Bijl mocks up an archaeological site 25 feet square and 18 feet deep, whose steep walls imitate layers of soil. Visitors climb a grassy hill to peer into the pit from a balustrade; in the pit, a 14-foot, shingle-roofed spire topped by a weathercock preens. This extensive book inspired by and documenting the festival opens on 35 sections between 4 and 16 pages long, each designed by the artist and illuminating his or her work in text and images. Its second half comes in the form of a glossary of more than 100 key concepts linked to the subject of art in public spaces; artists, art historians, philosophers, urbanists, architects, sociologists and other writers weighing in with definitions from their respective disciplinary perspectives. Participants include Francis Alÿs, Isa Genzken, Mike Kelley, Rosemarie Trockel, Bruce Nauman, Martha Rosler and Pae White.

Since 1993, Maur'cio Dias and Walter Riedweg have been developing a collaborative work that probes the relationship between ethics and aesthetics through precise interventions in specific individual and group situations. Their methods, ranging from scientific documentation to complex video dramatizations, focus especially on issues associated with identity and the tension between group and individual mechanisms. The direct involvement of the public in their work process is crucial. This catalogue contains a retrospective of their works to date, including Voracidad mxima, their joint project for the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona. The enclosed DVD includes a video fragment from that piece, which explores the relationship between sexuality and economics and was made in cooperation with male sex workers from the museum's neighborhood, El Raval.

Reframing Migration Diversity And The Arts written by Moritz Schramm and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-07 with Art categories.

This book offers a compelling study of contemporary developments in European migration studies and the representation of migration in the arts and cultural institutions. It introduces scholars and students to the new concept of ‘postmigration’, offering a review of the origin of the concept (in Berlin) and how it has taken on a variety of meanings and works in different ways within different national, cultural and disciplinary contexts. The authors explore postmigrant theory in relation to the visual arts, theater, film and literature as well as the representation of migration and cultural diversity in cultural institutions, offering case studies of postmigrant analyses of contemporary works of art from Europe (mainly Denmark, Germany and Great Britain).

Clegg & Guttmann, who once stocked a glass-fronted bookshelf and left it outdoors for public browsing, and recently built the title anti-monument, write that "the present publication has two distinct aims. The first is to present in depth a single work," the second to assemble their writing on public art. Happily "the two aims are complementary. Monument for Historical Change is a prime example of the category of Social Sculptures."

Magic Moments written by Anna Harding and has been published by Black Dog Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Art categories.

Magic Moments Collaborations between Artists and Young People is a remarkable collection of texts and images documenting insights of artists and institutions working on innovative creative projects with young people. Tracing their motives, working processes and achievements Magic Moments represents the first critical anthology on the subject of artists working with children. Including broader discussions on educational and social reform, environmentalism, vandalism, streetwork and citizenship this book works as a primary resource bringing together significant case studies and informed commentary. Magic Moments includes projects from the 1960s to the present day, from Stockholm to New York via London, and features case studies and analyses of exemplary programmes based on interviews and contextual essays. It demonstrates how work with young people has often been central for many artists and is becoming increasingly popular as a field of practice.
