Im Kursbuch stehen 208 Koalitionen auf der Tagesordnung. Gemäß Kursbuchprogrammatik geht es natürlich um Koalitionen ganz unterschiedlicher Natur. In der Politik bis hin zu schlechten Ehen. Jasmin Siri eröffnet den Reigen und rekonstruiert die Geschichte der Regierungskoalitionen in der Bundesrepublik auf Bundesebene – sie zeigt, wie weit man dem anderen entgegenkommen muss, damit er seine Eigenart behalten kann, einem aber nicht zu sehr in die Quere kommt? Georg von Wallwitz beschäftigt sich mit Koalitionen im Wirtschaftsleben, mit sogenannten Mergers&Acquisitions. Wolfgang Schmidbauer weist darauf hin, dass risikobereitere, auf Freiheit der Beteiligten setzende Beziehungen oft fragiler sind als lieblose. Mathias Grote widmet sich der bisweilen merkwürdigen politischen Epistemologie des Blicks auf die Natur – koalierende Kooperation statt Konkurrenz als Naturprinzip, und Alfred Hackensberger rekonstruiert eher pragmatische weltpolitische Koalitionen zwischen Feinden, wenn es der Machtbewirtschaftung dient, vor allem am Beispiel von Verhandlungen mit den Taliban. Armin Nassehi wiederum sucht den kategorischen Imperativ für gelingende Koalitionen. Für die Intermezzi wurden neun Autorinnen und Autoren die Frage gestellt, wann sie einmal eine ungewöhnliche Koalition eingegangen sind. Heike Littgers "Lagerfeuer" führt diesmal zu einem Aromaforscher, in die Queer-Forschung und in die Evolutionsbiologie. Neu ist die Kolumne "Islandtief" von Berit Glanz. Die Schriftstellerin und Literaturwissenschaftlerin, die in Reykjavik lebt, schreibt aus und in, bisweilen auch über Island. Ihre erste Kolumne kommt, wie könnte es in Island anders sein, aus der Blauen Lagune.
