Les textes sont issus du colloque international des 23 et 24 janvier 2012 initié par l'ISIAT (Institut Supérieur d'Ingénieurs-Animateurs Territoriaux), IUT Michel de Montaigne, à Bordeaux. Ce colloque a reçu l'appui de l'Université Bordeaux 3, du laboratoire ADES (Aménagement, Développement, Environnement et Société) unité mixte de recherche 5185 du CNRS, et du CRAJEP (Comité régional des associations d'éducation populaire) Aquitaine. L'ouverture internationale s'est traduite par la participation d'universitaires et de professionnels espagnols de l'IEPSA à Saragosse, sous l'égide d'un programme de coopération inter-régional Aquitaine-Aragon, de collègues portugais de l'ESELx à Lisbonne, et québecois de l'UQAM à Montréal, Les IUT, dont les départements Carrières sociales sont rassemblés en réseau (ADCS), sont, au sein des Universités, des lieux qui font valoir un ancrage professionnel des formations auxquelles ils contribuent, et qui stimulent l'avancée d'une recherche ancrée dans l'action. Il s'est agi dans ce colloque d'articuler pratique et recherche, de confronter communications scientifiques et analyses de praticiens, savoirs de recherche et savoirs d'expérience. La question du rapport au politique n'est pas nouvelle pour les animateurs : le monde politique et sa gouvernance influent sur la vie sociale et culturelle dans laquelle il leur est demandé d'intervenir, ils sont souvent confrontés au fait politique et même dépendants de l'agenda politique, et ils sont questionnés tant par l'expression politique citoyenne que par leur propre engagement dans une visée d'émancipation, ou par leur évitement du politique. Trois axes invitent à questionner et développer une compréhension critique des rapports de l'animation au politique : L'animation socioculturelle et le politique : quelles articulations ? Animatrices et animateurs : pratiques, enjeux et contraintes. La place des populations : actrices ou spectatrices ?

This books takes into consideration the changes that have occurred within the visual art landscape in Nigeria during the 20th century. This historical change is the result of new cultural exchanges between Africa, Europe and America, exchanges that developed different artistic practices and promoted new patrons. In this framework, cities have played a fundamental role in the development of modern art, especially because of the presence of a local or international art market. All the chapters of this book are related to specific Southern Nigerian cities: some are places of ancient royal art patronage (bronze casting in Benin City), some are city market where various popular expression of art could have developed (calendar in Onitsha), a few are strictly university based (Nsukka) but most of them have welcome elements of artistic lineages scattered all over Nigeria (the Fákéye family for instance).

Cet ouvrage a été écrit en pensant aux questions souvent répétées que les quelque 6 000 animateurs rencontrés par l’auteur depuis plus de 10 ans n’ont pas manqué de lui poser de façon très régulière. Peu à peu, le schéma de ses réponses s’est construit autour de quatre enjeux de cette profession : - la quantification des animateurs : il existe aujourd’hui suffisamment de statistiques en la matière pour lever beaucoup d’ambiguïtés concernant le champ des animateurs professionnels ; - le point sur la perte des valeurs dites « historiques » chez les animateurs d’aujourd’hui ; - les nouveaux métiers qui entrent (ou ont tenté d’entrer) en concurrence avec les animateurs professionnels ; - les rapports difficiles entre travail social et animation. Jean-Claude Gillet synthétise les courants sociologiques actuels et développe une vision engagée et personnelle des différentes facettes de ce métier (quartiers, hôpital, établissements pour personnes âgées ou handicapées...). Sa conception de l’animation est politique : quel que soit son statut, l’animateur a pour rôle de développer les compétences psychosociales de l’individu acteur, c’est un vecteur de changement, de transformation sociale, un élément de « désordre » favorisant le développement de la créativité, et qui provoque souvent la résistance des institutions. Cet état des lieux constitue une réflexion stimulante sur ce métier qui suscitera sûrement le débat et pose implicitement la question de son devenir. Jean-Claude Gillet est professeur émérite en sciences de l’éducation à l’université Michel de Montaigne (Bordeaux 3) et directeur scientifique de l’ISIAT (Institut supérieur d’ingénieurs-animateurs territoriaux). Il est par ailleurs rattaché au LARSEF (Laboratoire de recherche en sciences de l’éducation et de la formation) de l’université Victor Segalen (Bordeaux 2) et associé à l’ADES (UMR Aménagement, développement, santé et sociétés à la Maison des Suds). Ses travaux portent sur l’éducation populaire, l’animation et la vie associative. Il est codirecteur de collection chez l’Harmattan et aux Presses Universitaires de Bordeaux.
