Il contributo pone l’attenzione su un segmento del mercato turistico, definito dai giovani italiani di età compresa fra i 16 ed i 29 anni, che hanno intrapreso un viaggio autonomamente. È la generazione dei cosiddetti “Millennials”, i nati fra gli anni Ottanta e il Duemila, che osservano la realtà attraverso una lente globale, mostrando un atteggiamento di apertura. La ricerca sul tema ha finora ricevuto pochi contributi. Inoltre, la letteratura di riferimento non ha ancora raggiunto un consenso sulle metodologie da adottare per lo studio del fenomeno. Pertanto, il lavoro si propone di fornire un contributo originale, acquisendo informazioni specifiche su un target poco indagato, sperimentando, nel contempo, una strategia mista di tecniche d’indagine. La ricerca trova i suoi riferimenti teorici all’interno di diverse discipline, riconducibili essenzialmente a due prospettive di analisi: da un lato, la pratica turistica viene intesa come prodotto di consumo e, dall’altro, come esperienza di vita. Il confine tra le due prospettive non è tuttavia così chiaramente individuabile, pertanto, è comprensibile considerarle entrambe all’interno di un unico paradigma rappresentato da uno spazio a geometria circolare, il cui perimetro interpreta il viaggio sia come esperienza di consumo che come consumo di esperienza. I risultati dello studio confermano l’importanza del tema indagato e rappresentano una base informativa strategica per la definizione di politiche di promozione e supporto del turismo giovanile.

This volume includes papers from the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Tourism. Today tourism is becoming accessible to a growing number of people and is an important component of development, not only in economic terms but also for knowledge and human welfare. This collection of research aims to find ways to protect the natural and cultural landscape through the development of new solutions which minimise the adverse effects of tourism. The phenomenon has many more advantages than disadvantages. New forms of economic development and increasing wealth of human societies depend on tourism. Our knowledge of the world now includes a strong component due to tourism. Human welfare has physiological and psychological elements, which tourism promotes, both because of the enjoyment of knowing new territories and increasing contacts with near or far away societies and cultures. The tourism industry has nevertheless given rise to some serious problems, including social costs and ecological impacts. Many ancient local cultures have practically lost their identity. Their societies have oriented their economy only to this industry. Both the natural and cultural – rural or urban – landscapes have also paid a high price for certain forms of tourism. These problems will persist if economic benefit is the only target, leading to economic gains that eventually become ruinous. It is also a grave error to disregard the fact that visitors nowadays are increasingly demanding in cultural and environmental terms. The ‘Global Change’ is a set of natural environmental changes that are strongly affected by technological and social developments. Natural changes are inherent in the Earth’s ecosystem (the ‘ecosphere’). Also, technological and social changes are inherent to mankind (the ‘noosphere’), and are now becoming widespread. Cities are growing rapidly and industry requires increasingly larger areas. Many traditional rural areas are being abandoned. Tourism should also play an important role in this context. Thus, interestingly, many historic agricultural districts have maintained, or even recovered, their local population numbers through intelligent strategies of tourism focused on nature and rural culture. Natural landscapes and biodiversity are becoming increasingly appreciated. The tourism industry must be able to respond to these aspirations.

Questo lavoro nasce per fornire un quadro generale e ragionato dei principali temi di Economia del turismo con particolare attenzione alla capacità di accoglienza. L’obiettivo è presentare al lettore gli strumenti per affrontare la gestione di una destinazione turistica fornendo un quadro completo attraverso la rassegna delle principali teorie economiche del turismo e dei modelli empirici utilizzati per l’analisi dei suoi fenomeni e la presentazione del modello di misurazione di una capacità di accoglienza urbana. La linguistica contrastiva rappresenta un campo di studi di sempre maggiore rilevanza nell’ambito della ricerca scientifica e della didattica delle lingue straniere. Il presente volume nasce sulla base delle relazioni presentate in occasione della Prima Giornata di Linguistica Contrastiva “Lingue europee a confronto” (Roma Sapienza, novembre 2015) e riunisce contributi che mettono a confronto l’italiano con alcune lingue europee appartenenti a diverse famiglie linguistiche (inglese, tedesco; russo, polacco; francese, portoghese). Gli articoli trattano fenomeni relativi ai principali livelli di analisi linguistica, quali fonologia (fonemi), morfologia (tempi e aspetto verbale), sintassi (connettori), lessico (riferimenti culturali, nomi propri, dialettismi), pragmatica (forme allocutive) e testo (tipologie testuali). La maggior parte dei contributi fa riferimento alla linguistica applicata in ottica traduttiva e didattico-acquisizionale. Non mancano, tuttavia, lavori incentrati su considerazioni di ordine teorico-sistemico nel confronto tra le lingue. La prospettiva di studio è prevalentemente sincronica, con alcuni contributi contenenti anche considerazioni di tipo storico-diacronico.
