Mais de dez anos separam o momento de escrita de A Hora de Clarice Lispector da primeira e espantosa leitura que Hélène Cixous fez da autora brasileira. Outros 33 anos separam a publicação deste texto, que veio à luz em 1989, pelas Éditions des Femmes-Antoinette Fouque, à chegada de sua versão integral ao Brasil. Por que tantas horas mais tarde?, alguém pode se perguntar. Talvez porque este fosse (e ainda seja) um texto feito de futuro. Futuro que talvez seja o nosso hoje. Ou um longínquo amanhã. O “ensaio”, que pode ser lido como um longo poema em prosa escrito em fluxo de consciência, talvez não encontrasse lugar em nenhuma prateleira brasileira de três décadas atrás. E a ideia de uma escrita que mistura a pessoa que fala ao objeto de que se fala talvez soasse ousada demais para o rigor da academia e vanguardista em excesso para quem deseja ler um conteúdo que corresponda fielmente ao seu rótulo. Pois é no esfumaçar das fronteiras de gênero que se constitui a escrita de Hélène Ciixous sobre Clarice. Aquilo que ela própria chama de uma “meditação sobre a última hora”, referindo-se à última hora de Clarice Lispector (A hora da estrela) é daqueles textos que nos cegam num primeiro momento, em razão da extrema lucidez com que toca na escrita clariceana, ela mesma clarividente. Se a ela foi exigida coragem para escrever, será também necessário ter coragem para ler, de corpo aberto, e sem a pretensão de querer entender, arriscando-se, como fez Hélène em sua íntima leitura: “Empurrar-me além de meus limites, forçar-me a ir onde não dá pé, sob o risco de me abismar.” e suportar “a mordida dos seus dentes [de Clarice] na garganta do meu coração”. Às leitoras e aos leitores, fica o desafio-promessa: “... que Clarice também lhes chame. Que ela lhes diga o que quer dizer.”
