Tutto ha inizio nel 1975, in una fredda serata di dicembre, quando Lotta e Pikay si incontrano per caso in una piazza di Nuova Delhi. Il blocco e le matite diventano il suo biglietto per un lungo viaggio verso occidente: in sella alla sua bici di seconda mano, il ragazzo parte da Delhi, attraversa le cime innevate dell’Afghanistan, approda nella terra dello scià e da lì prosegue verso l’Europa, pedalando ogni giorno fino allo stremo per cinque lunghi mesi e superando povertà, pregiudizi e innumerevoli avversità – oltre a dodicimila chilometri di strada – per stare insieme alla donna che ama.
