con una introduzione di Fulvio Cortese e una postfazione di Benedetta Carnaghi Silvio Trentin (1885-1944) è una delle figure più significative dell’antifascismo e della Resistenza. Le traiettorie della sua vita sono state molteplici, tutte condotte con passione incrollabile: originale studioso del diritto pubblico e delle sue trasformazioni a cavallo tra le due guerre mondiali; ma soprattutto un uomo politico capace di affrontare la crisi delle istituzioni statali e la necessità di una loro integrale rifondazione. Durante gli anni dell’esilio francese, in particolare, ha proposto una soluzione dichiaratamente rivoluzionaria, socialista e federalista, avviando il movimento Libérer et Fédérer e contribuendo in modo significativo, dopo l’8 settembre 1943, alle attività del Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale Regionale Veneto. Il suo lascito è stato coltivato dai figli Franca, Giorgio e Bruno (quest’ultimo si è rivelato come uno dei protagonisti della storia del sindacalismo italiano della seconda metà del Novecento) e rappresenta un universo fertile di idee e sollecitazioni sempre attuali. Questo volume ripropone in una veste nuova il testo della prima e unica edizione italiana del lavoro del più importante biografo di Trentin, Frank Rosengarten, pubblicato da Feltrinelli nel 1980 e oggi pressoché introvabile.

"Today, school is becoming a rapidly changing learning environment. Thinking about students as a homogeneous population is no longer allowed, as diversity – in terms of culture, language, gender, family organisation, learning styles and so on – has emerged as a key challenge for education today.The debate on Special Educational Needs largely reflects this challenge, as working in school implies careful reconsideration of what we mean by “normal” and “special”. Current educational intervention is generally based on a deficit and “within-child” model of facing SEN, whereas very little attention is given to the role of learning environments. The focus is on the child more than on the whole class, and on cognition and technical provisions more than on affective, sociocultural and community dimensions of learning. Conversely, regarding students and their needs as “hidden voices” allows us to adopt a transformative approach which sees diversity as a stimulus for the development of educational practices that might benefit all children and help school to become an inclusive and “moving” organisation.The aim of the book is twofold: on the one hand, it offers a systematic overview of the inclusive education state-of-the-art in six countries (Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden, UK, and USA) based on the contributions by well-known scholars such as Christy Ashby, Barbara Brokamp, Fabio Dovigo, Kari Nes, Mara Westling Allodi, Tony Booth, and Beth Ferri; on the other hand, the book analyses five cases of good practices of inclusion related to different subjects and school levels."

In his quest for military glory, Benito Mussolini sent the Italian Eighth Army to the Eastern Front to help fight the Russians, only to have his forces routed within little more than a month of the launch of the Soviet counteroffensives of the winter of 1942-1943. The Cuneense, a division of mountain troops, was hit especially hard, with only a small percentage of its troops straggling back to Italy; the rest were killed in action or died of frostbite or in captivity from malnourishment, overwork, and disease. All told, the Italians suffered roughly 75,000 dead, more than in their six-month campaign in Greece and Albania or in their three years in North Africa. Nuto Revelli, who fought in Russia himself, interviewed forty-three other survivors of the campaign for a book that has become a classic among Italian war memoirs. First published in Italian in 1966 as La strada del davai, Revelli's account, now available in English, vividly recaptures the experiences and sobering reflections of these men. It provides a chilling look at an experience that, in English-language writing, has been overshadowed by that of the main actors on the Eastern Front. When news of the rout reached Italy, the shock was devastating. In Revelli's home province of Cuneo, the recruiting territory of the annihilated Cuneense Division, some villages lost almost all men of military age. The resulting rage and bitterness later fueled the partisan war against the Germans and Italian fascists. The veterans of Mussolini's Death March speak candidly of nights in the open, of extreme cold, gnawing hunger, and eruptive madness. Thousands who survived the Soviet onslaught were taken prisoner and died on the so-called davai marches-named for Russian guards' command to keep prisoners moving-or later in the camps themselves. Even so, they developed a favorable impression of the Russian people, who provided hospitality in their small houses and aid to the wounded. Together, their recollections provide an eye-opening look at a largely neglected aspect of World War II.
