Written entirely in Spanish, this is the ideal introduction to Spanish linguistics for students. Using clear explanations, it covers all the basic concepts required to study the structural aspects of the Spanish language - phonetics and phonology, morphology and syntax - as well as the history of Spanish, its dialects and linguistic variation. This second edition incorporates new features designed to enhance its usefulness for classroom teaching: chapters have been added on the sociolinguistics of Spanish in the USA, and on semantics and pragmatics. The chapter on syntax has been considerably expanded. Numerous exercises have been added throughout the book, as well as a new glossary to help with technical terms.

On Being Literate written by Margaret Meek (Diston Spencer) and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-31 with Juvenile Nonfiction categories.

Literacy is at the heart of all social concerns. Not only in childhood, in education, in Britain, but everywhere in the modern world of signs, print and information, literacy is linked to changes, especially in all forms of communication. So what are children to learn about reading and writing? What counts as literacy now, and what will it be like in the lives of those who leave school in the next century? In this book Margaret Meek shows how young learners become strong, confident readers if they discover early what reading and writing are good for, as powerful ways of learning and 'being in the know.' Literacy will change, but it is still the entitlement of everyone.

Relevance And Linguistic Meaning written by Diane Blakemore and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-09-26 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

The importance of discourse markers (words like 'so', 'however', and 'well') lies in the theoretical questions they raise about the nature of discourse and the relationship between linguistic meaning and context. They are regarded as being central to semantics because they raise problems for standard theories of meaning, and to pragmatics because they seem to play a role in the way discourse is understood. In this new and important study, Diane Blakemore argues that attempts to analyse these expressions within standard semantic frameworks raise even more problems, while their analysis as expressions that link segments of discourse has led to an unproductive and confusing exercise in classification. She concludes that the exercise in classification that has dominated discourse marker research should be replaced by the investigation of the way in which linguistic expressions contribute to the inferential processes involved in utterance understanding.

Art Of The Deal written by Noah Horowitz and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-31 with Antiques & Collectibles categories.

Art today is defined by its relationship to money as never before. Prices of living artists' works have been driven to unprecedented heights, conventional boundaries within the art world have collapsed, and artists now think ever more strategically about how to advance their careers. Artists no longer simply make art, but package, sell, and brand it. Noah Horowitz exposes the inner workings of the contemporary art market, explaining how this unique economy came to be, how it works, and where it's headed. He takes a unique look at the globalization of the art world and the changing face of the business, offering the clearest analysis yet of how investors speculate in the market and how emerging art forms such as video and installation have been drawn into the commercial sphere. By carefully examining these developments against the backdrop of the deflation of the contemporary art bubble in 2008, "Art of the Deal" is a must-read book that demystifies collecting and investing in today's art market.
