La Ciudad Circular es la estrategia urbana, social, tecnológica y ambiental capaz de conseguir la autosuficiencia, la reutilización, el reciclaje y la independencia urbana de los recursos naturales, para descarbonizar la actividad ciudadana e ir despresurizando los nueve límites planetarios, entre ellos, el cambio climático; y todo ello, desde el ámbito local. En la concepción de esta publicación, Ciudad Circular, se funden la experiencia técnica del sector público urbano y los conocimientos científicos de la universidad. A partir de una ciudad tomada como referencia, se determinan numéricamente los resultados al integrar soluciones en la gestión de los residuos, así como técnicas energéticas, hídricas, eléctricas, lumínicas, bióticas, digitales e innovadoras o de movilidad sostenible entre otras, de forma que, estableciendo de un lado, un sistema urbano de vectores de consumo y de otro, vectores de emisión o vertido, se obtiene un resultado clarificador cuantificado para llevar a cabo una aproximación real y posible Ciudad Circular.

¿Cómo entender la ciudad actual en toda su complejidad? ¿Cómo debemos pensar, diseñar y producir hoy la ciudad para que dentro de veinte a treinta años sea un lugar sostenible y grato para vivir?
