Il saggio che si propone rientra nell’ambito del disegno sperimentale. Attraverso l’uso della modellazione digitale 3D esplora la dimensione creativa del disegno d’autore. Lo studio, infatti, indaga la serie di tavole Come si agisce/Dentro l’architettura di Franco Purini, con l’obiettivo di trascrivere la composizione puriniana bidimensionale nelle possibili configurazioni spaziali tridimensionali intuite e proposte dall’autore. Alla dimensione esplorativa si accompagna quella metodologica attraverso l’analisi dell’immagine originale e degli elementi costituenti, al fine di svelare le “regole” di assemblaggio degli elementi stessi nel modello. La sintesi grafica che ne consegue, restituita nei diversi sistemi della rappresentazione, ha un duplice significato: quello di rivisitare l’atto compositivo proposto in termini di rappresentazione (traslare, ruotare, bordare, tagliare, affollare, ecc.) e quello di «toccare il limite tra ciò che si può e non si può fare»; quindi il disegno digitale inteso come momento di riflessione sul tema del disegno/progetto d’architettura. | This essay focuses on experimental drawings. Using 3D digital modelling the study explores the creative dimension of handmade drawings. The study examines a series of tables entitled How to act/Inside architecture by Franco Purini. The objective was to spatially transcribe Purini’s flat compositions and reveal the possible 3D spatial configurations instinctively sensed and proposed by the author. The original images and their elements were analysed to discover the ‘rules’ governing the assembly of those elements in the model. The restitution of the ensuing graphic synthesis in representation systems have a dual purpose: to review the compositional act proposed in terms of representation (to transcribe, rotate, frame, cut, fill, etc.) and to “touch the limit of what can and cannot be done”. In other words, digital drawing as a moment of reflection on the topic of drawing/architectural design.

Sebbene i caratteri peculiari della sua opera siano legati al disegno manuale, l’analisi grafica di alcuni dei suoi disegni ne evidenzia un aspetto inedito, ovvero una particolare raffinatezza nella ricerca dell’armonia della forma attraverso l’uso della geometria e della proporzione. | Alan Fletcher (1931-2006) has been one of the most important graphic designer of the twentieth century. In this article, his works are investigated refering to his life that crossed the different European graphic traditions, the American pop-culture and the British modern experimentalism. Although the peculiarity of his works is the use of handmade drawing, the graphical analysis of some of his works reveals a new aspect, a particular elegance in the search for visual armony of forms through the of geometry and proportion.

Dopo vari studi di archivio e sopralluoghi a Tirana con il presente saggio si cerca di porre in luce, tramite i disegni originali di progetto di Gherardo Bosio, il metodo compositivo adottato dal grande architetto fiorentino che si basa essenzialmente su una ferrea regola geometrica di scansioni modulari che regolano l’intera sua produzione. Quanto detto è dimostrato non solo per quanto riguarda la scala architettonica ma anche per quella urbana, dimostrando tali procedimenti attraverso elaborati grafici originali del monumento storico denominato Hotel Dajti e del piano particolareggiato sul viale dell’Impero. | After several study visits and archival research in Tirana this essay uses the original design drawings by the great Florentine architect Gherardo Bosio to illustrate his compositional method essentially based on a strict geometric rule of modules which he used in all his designs. He adopted this approach at both the urban and architectural scale; the procedure is exemplified using the original graphics of the historical monument known as Hotel Dajti and the detailed plan of Avenue of the Empire.

Le difficoltà legate alla costruzione esatta di alcuni dei poligoni regolari erano note fin dall’antichità e nel loro tracciamento era presente e ampiamente accettato un margine di approssimazione. Se alcuni di essi possono essere costruiti con “riga e compasso”, per ettagono, ennagono, endecagono e altri una costruzione esatta non è possibile con il solo ausilio di quelli che Boyer definisce «strumenti euclidei». Su questi poligoni, e in particolare sull’ettagono, si sono concentrati, nel corso dei secoli, molti studi: meno numerosi, invece, risultano gli approfondimenti sull’ennagono. Alla base della costruzione dell’ennagono regolare è infatti il problema antico della tripartizione dell’angolo, questione intorno alla quale si sono concentrate molte indagini. Sullo stimolo delle riflessioni nate dal rilevamento del teatro romano di Lecce, che sembra progettato su una matrice ennagonale, il contributo propone una costruzione approssimata ma speditiva dell’ennagono a partire dalla corda maggiore basata sul solo impiego di riga e compasso. Le conseguenze dell’approssimazione della costruzione, che viene confrontata con quella riscontrabile in altre costruzioni dell’ennagono, sono infine riportate alla scala dell’edificio per valutarne l’impatto sull’opera realizzata. | The ancients were well aware of how difficult it was to accurately construct several regular polygons. In fact, a certain margin of error was present and accepted when they were drawn. Although some regular polygons can be constructed using a ‘ruler and compass’, it is impossible to accurately construct a heptagon, enneagon, hendecagon, etc. only by using what Boyer calls “Euclidean tools”. Over the centuries numerous studies have performed on these polygons, especially the heptagon, while less numerous studies have been carried out on the enneagon. The ancient problem of the tripartition of the angle lies behind the construction of a regular enneagon, and many studies focused on this issue. Inspired by considerations on the survey of the Roman Theatre in Lecce – ostensibly designed based on an enneagonal matrix – this contribution proposes an approximate but expeditious construction of an enneagon starting with the major chord and using only a ruler and compass. The effects of the approximation of the construction, compared to the approximation in other constructions of an enneagon, are then adjusted to the size of the building to assess the impact on the building itself.

La ricerca prende in esame una porzione del centro storico: uno stralcio del Rione Monti, noto storicamente con il toponimo “Suburra”, ponendo particolare attenzione a quella parte del rione inclusa fra via Panisperna, via Cavour e via dei Fori Imperiali, che ha mantenuto maggiormente le caratteristiche del tessuto storico originario. Il testo descrive i risultati, le sperimentazioni e le ricerche svolte sulla Suburra, area di particolare importanza nella formazione della città di Roma, che per molto tempo è rimasta nell’ombra: sono pochi e non esaustivi gli studi che abbiano cercato di ricostruire la sua vera identità urbana pur essendo un’area centrale e adiacente ai Fori Imperiali. | The study examines part of the old city centre: the area of the Monti district historically known as ‘Suburra’. Special attention is dedicated to the remaining part of the district between Via Panisperna, Via Cavour and Via dei Fori Imperiali because this area has retained most of the characteristics of its original urban fabric. This article illustrates the results of the experiments and studies performed in an urban area that played a particularly important role in the development of the city of Rome. For many years it remained in the shadows: although it is a central area adjacent to the Imperial Fora, very few, comprehensive studies have tried to retrace its real urban identity.

Insediamenti capaci di raccogliere gli stimoli dell’ambiente in cui sorgono, così come i suoi tratti sociali e culturali. | This contribution focuses on the vernacular architecture of Sacromonte, Granada, and the relationships between public and private space, and nature and built habitat (Sacromonte is currently a candidate to become a World Heritage Site). The objective of the graphic and perceptive analysis of this site, created by the earth and its history, is to understand its morphology and structure as well as identify any values that can be extrapolated and used in other contexts to create inhabited spaces camouflaged by the landscape and characterised by their formal values, the landscape and constructions. Settlements capable of incorporating the stimuli of their surroundings as well as their social and cultural traits.
