ENGLISH DESCRIPTION An offer that's hard to believe. An adventure that's impossible to imagine. The first novel from 2017's revolutionary screenwriter, winner of a Goya for The Fury of a Patient Man. After spending some years in London, Germán returns to Madrid willing to start from zero. During his impossible search for an affordable rental in the city, an ad catches his attention that says: 'IN SEARCH OF RENTERS TO LIVE IN AN EXCEPTIONAL PLACE FOR 204 EUROS.' Despite everything sounding very suspicious, Germán and nine other candidates decide to take advantage of the opportunity and move to the apartment tower that, indeed, turns out to be unbeatable. Soon Germán and his neighbors begin experiencing unexplainable things and they fear they've fallen into the clutches of a sect that's hiding some strange and elusive children on the top floor. But the mystery goes beyond the incredible offer and the tower. Upon trying to untangle the enigma, Germán and his neighbors get caught up in an adventure they never could have imagined, where two planes of reality mix dangerously in a Madrid that always hid the biggest mystery."

How water enables Caribbean and Latinx writers to reconnect to their pasts, presents, and futures. Water is often tasked with upholding division through the imposition of geopolitical borders. We see this in the construction of the Rio Grande/Río Bravo on the US-Mexico border, as well as in how the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean are used to delineate the limits of US territory. In stark contrast to this divisive view, Afro-diasporic religions conceive of water as a place of connection; it is where spiritual entities and ancestors reside, and where knowledge awaits. Departing from the premise that water encourages confluence through the sustainment of contradiction, Channeling Knowledges fathoms water’s depth and breadth in the work of Latinx and Caribbean creators such as Mayra Santos-Febres, Rita Indiana, Gloria Evangelina Anzaldúa, and the Border of Lights collective. Combining methodologies from literary studies, anthropology, history, and religious studies, Rebeca L. Hey-Colón’s interdisciplinary study traces how Latinx and Caribbean cultural production draws on systems of Afro-diasporic worship—Haitian Vodou, La 21 División (Dominican Vodou), and Santería/Regla de Ocha—to channel the power of water, both salty and sweet, in sustaining connections between past, present, and not-yet-imagined futures.

Reading Feminist Theory: From Modernity to Postmodernity interweaves classical and contemporary writings from the social sciences and the humanities to represent feminist thought from the late eighteenth century to the present. Editors Susan Archer Mann and Ashly Suzanne Patterson pay close attention to the multiplicity and diversity of feminist voices, visions, and vantage points by race, class, gender, sexuality, and global location. Along with more conventional forms of theorizing, this anthology points to multiple sites of theory production--both inside and outside of the academy--and includes personal narratives, poems, short stories, zines, and even music lyrics. Offering a truly global perspective, the book devotes three chapters and more than thirty readings to the topics of colonialism, imperialism and globalization. It also provides extensive coverage of third-wave feminism, poststructuralism, queer theory, postcolonial theory, and transnational feminisms.

This final volume in the Public Women, Public Words series focuses on what has come to be called the second wave of American feminism. It traces the resurgence of feminism in the late 1960s--from Betty Friedan and the National Organization for Women to the anarchist and lesbian identity dimensions of radical feminism. Including topics such as sexual autonomy, abortion, the Equal Rights Amendment, and the black-feminist resistance to the white-dominated second wave, this volume reflects the unprecedented range of women's issues taken up by feminists during the 1970s and beyond. Volume III also charts the great diffusion of feminism with separate sections on multicultural feminism and the feminist presence in media and pop culture. Finally, through the recent writings of feminist intellectuals, it looks toward a third feminist wave for the new millennium. Public Women, Public Words: A Documentary History of American Feminism provides a comprehensive view of the many strands of feminist thought and actions and is essential for every women's studies and feminism collection.
