El presente trabajo describe y analiza las iniciativas que se vienen llevando a cabo desde mediados de la década pasada en materia de clínicas jurídicas de derechos humanos e interés público en América Latina. En varios países de dicha región (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, México y Perú) se ha creado este tipo de clínicas, que llevan a cabo litigio en casos paradigmáticos a nivel interno e internacional y que participan en procesos de reforma legislativa. El trabajo explora los antecedentes del movimiento clínico en América Latina y muestra la innovación que traen consigo para dicho movimiento las clínicas de derechos humanos e interés público, produciendo impacto tanto a través del fortalecimiento de la protección de tales derechos como de la renovación de las metodologías y contenidos de la enseñanza del Derecho. Se muestra además el enriquecimiento que implica para el trabajo académico el desarrollo de alianzas con la sociedad civil.
