En el año 2015, la Organización para las Naciones Unidas replanteó, como parte de una nueva agenda de desarrollo sostenible, la dirección hacia la cual debería tender la humanidad, estableciendo la lista de objetivos globales para erradicar la pobreza, proteger el planeta y asegurar la prosperidad para todos («todo, para todos, para siempre»), conocidos como Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), donde en cada uno se plantean metas específicas que se han de haber cumplido, a más tardar, en el año 2030. Esta política internacional pretende enfocar los esfuerzos en educación desde un punto de vista humanista en el cual se consideren los principios de equidad, inclusión e integralidad. En consecuencia, esto generará el desarrollo de las capacidades cognitivas, socioemocionales y físicas, que permitan alcanzar el máximo grado de logro de los aprendizajes y el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en aras de estrechar los lazos entre la escuela y la comunidad. La nueva realidad requiere fortalecer acciones educativas dirigidas a la protección, la higiene, la salud y el apoyo socioemocional de los educandos, teniendo en cuenta sus decisiones en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, así como fomentar el respeto, la empatía y la solidaridad, dando un trato digno y respetuoso, lo cual implica la capacitación docente adecuada para estar acorde al ritmo de los cambios. Por ello, en esta obra se presenta el trabajo que han desarrollado expertos docentes e investigadores, con la finalidad de brindar experiencias y prácticas exitosas y efectivas que contribuyan a apoyar el desarrollo de conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes de los estudiantes, y que difundan los nuevos retos de las políticas públicas en el marco de la Agenda 2030.
