Resulta cuanto menos paradójico que nuestra sociedad actual esté configurada por una creciente diversidad cultural y, al mismo tiempo, se pretenda establecer de manera contundente la necesidad de un pensamiento único como fundamento básico para la convivencia pacífica y armoniosa de todos los que forman parte de la misma. Para lograr este objetivo, el control de la educación es la piedra angular que ansían quienes pretenden sojuzgar y dominar el mayor número de asuntos de la vida de los ciudadanos, preferencia propia de todo sistema totalitario. Por otra parte, una amalgama de factores convergen tejiendo un tapiz compacto que impide ver la verdadera esencia natural del ser humano: necesidad de un lenguaje «políticamente correcto», búsqueda de una ética mínima, teorías neomalthusianas para el control de la población, ideología de género, neomarxismo post Muro de Berlín, nuevos derechos de ciudadanía... En definitiva, todos los ingredientes necesarios para establecer un Nuevo Orden Mundial. No obstante, éste no podrá ser nunca efectivo sin despojar previamente a la familia natural de su propia identidad y de todas sus funciones, especialmente la educativa. Se la está difuminando de tal modo que parece haberse evanescido. Y con ella debe desaparecer todo aquel que tenga la osadía de defenderla. Así pues, el mejor barómetro para diagnosticar el estado de salud de nuestra sociedad es, precisamente, el respeto a los derechos naturales de la familia. El problema es muy serio, pues están en juego todas las libertades.

La cuestión relativa a la posibilidad, en general, que se otorga a los padres de educar a sus hijos de conformidad con sus propias convicciones se sitúa prima facie en el orden de los principios éticos que inspiran concepciones profundas -de los individuos y de las sociedades- sobre el mundo y sobre el hombre. En los países desarrollados estas concepciones se articulan en marcos jurídicos, de distinto rango y alcance, e inspiran, de uno u otro modo, su desarrollo o su interpretación. La problemática de la educación en familia se sitúa también en este contexto y ha de ubicarse, por tanto, en ese punto de partida... La Constitución Española (1978) en su artículo 27 incorpora esos dos pilares básicos de la regulación educativa: el derecho a la educación y la libertad de enseñanza, concepto jurídico complejo este último que tiene en la libertad de elección de los padres su núcleo fundamental. Pues bien, en el marco constitucional la problemática de la “educación en familia” se sitúa en el ámbito de los derechos de los padres –y de sus correspondientes obligaciones-; y, a un tiempo, en el de los deberes de los poderes públicos de garantizar el derecho a la educación y el cumplimiento de las leyes a todos. Ambos extremos –el derecho de los padres y las obligaciones de los poderes públicos-, por su propia naturaleza, plantean abiertamente el problema de cohonestarlos. ¿Cómo conciliar ambos cuando pueden parecer, a primera vista, contradictorios?... ...con las necesarias adaptaciones, se podrían facilitar caminos que permitieran a la sociedad española avanzar hacia el reto consistente en conciliar los derechos de los padres y las obligaciones de los poderes públicos, a la hora de garantizar el derecho a la educación de todos los alumnos en condiciones de calidad. Se trataría de arbitrar fórmulas legales más evolucionadas que las actuales que evitasen prohibir o, en su caso, judicializar comportamientos de familias -aunque sean minoritarias- claramente comprometidas con la educación de sus hijos...

How and what to teach about religion is controversial in every country. The Routledge International Handbook of Religious Education is the first book to comprehensively address the range of ways that major countries around the world teach religion in public and private educational institutions. It discusses how three models in particular seem to dominate the landscape. Countries with strong cultural traditions focused on a majority religion tend to adopt an "identification model," where instruction is provided only in the tenets of the majority religion, often to the detriment of other religions and their adherents. Countries with traditions that differentiate church and state tend to adopt a "separation model," thus either offering instruction in a wide range of religions, or in some cases teaching very little about religion, intentionally leaving it to religious institutions and the home setting to provide religious instruction.
