En el presente trabajo se aborda el estudio de la Junta de Compensación, figura clave del Derecho Urbanístico Español, desde su configuración inicial por la Ley sobre Régimen de Suelo y Ordenación Urbana de 1956 hasta nuestros días. El primer capítulo contiene un análisis en clave urbanística de la Constitución Española, donde se encuentra el fundamento de los principios de dirección y control públicos e iniciativa de los particulares en la actividad urbanística, con especial atención al derecho de propiedad y a su configuración en los Ordenamientos Español y Europeo. El segundo capítulo aborda la determinación de la naturaleza jurídica del ente a partir del análisis, tanto de sus características como de las similitudes y diferencias que guarda con otros afines -fundamentalmente dentro del ámbito de la denominada Adminis-tración Corporativa-. El último se dedica al estudio del régimen jurídico de la Junta de Compensación en las legislaciones estatal y autonómicas desde su nacimiento hasta su extinción.
