Quella del Covid-19 è una crisi che non si era mai vista. Alcuni vanno a ricercare un’analogia con la Grande crisi del 1640, ritenuta la più grande dell’epoca moderna. Ma il confronto non regge. Soprattutto ci si interroga sulle conseguenze, seppur ignote e terrificanti. C’è un precedente storico da cui trarre qualche insegnamento, si tratta degli anni seguiti alla crisi finanziaria del 2007-2008. Per l’Italia sono stati anni durissimi. Non è più riuscita a ritrovare l’equilibrio e il tenore di vita che li precedeva. Addirittura, si è verificato un fenomeno tristissimo: decine d’imprenditori italiani – tanti veneti e di città di provincia – hanno iniziato a togliersi la vita con impressionante continuità e quotidianità all’inizio del 2012. In questi terribili gesti un intellettuale pubblico come Giulio Sapelli e un opinionista poco convenzionale come Lodovico Festa leggevano la risposta disperata a un trauma di abbandono e di mancata solidarietà del sistema sociale nei confronti del tessuto dell’impresa minore italiana. In quei “morti” italiani c’era soprattutto una sfida morale. Di fronte a una crisi di ampiezza ben superiore a quella del 2007-2008 vogliamo riproporre le riflessioni dell’epoca di Festa e di Sapelli perché una tale tragedia possa aiutarci a percorrere un cammino diverso. Sì, prelevando informazioni, progetti, disegni industriali e tecnologie dalla Fiat, Olivetti, Eni, Montedison ecc. i comunisti italiani hanno consentito al controspionaggio sovietico di cercare di reggere la concorrenza sui sistemi d’arma, sui computer, sulla tecnologia militare-industriale, spaziale ecc. Sono i settori in cui Mosca è stata a lungo, negli anni centrali della guerra fredda, in un rapporto di inferiorità rispetto agli Stati Uniti e ai paesi dell’Europa occidentale. Uno storico di sinistra, ma indipendente, ha cercato di accertare questa interpretazione della storia del Pci, da Palmiro Togliatti fino a Enrico Berlinguer. L’autore si è trovato di fronte a un muro di omissis e divieti. Ne è rimasto in parte vittima, ma alla fine l’ha spuntata di fronte al tentativo di usare contro le regole della ricerca storica armi improprie come il sistema giudiziario.
