Author Gámez del León research work on romantic painter Manuel Ocaranza (Uruapan, Mxico 1841- d. 1882), best remembered as the 19th century master of the romantic painting genre of "costumbrista". The present text is a detailed account of the historical context as well as the symbolic implications of Ocaranza's artwork, particularly his representation of the female body and its relation with nationalistic and virtue values, his liberal political convictions and his later bohemian attitude in a disappointing government. The present texts provides a better understanding of the permanent relationship between painters, poets and literates, like Ocaranza and poet Jos Mart who shared metaphors in the creation of painting style full of unusual characteristics. This edited volume reconsiders the importance of the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki from a post-Cold War perspective. It has been argued that during the Cold War era scholarship was limited by the anxiety that authors felt about the possibility of a global thermonuclear war, and the role their scholarship could play in obstructing such an event. The new scholarship of Nuclear Humanities approaches this history and its fallout with both more nuanced and integrative inquiries, paving the way towards a deeper integration of these seminal events beyond issues of policy and ethics. This volume, therefore, offers a distinctly post-Cold War perspective on the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The chapters collected here address the memorialization and commemoration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by officials and states, but also ordinary people’s resentment, suffering, or forgiveness. The volume presents a variety of approaches with contributions from academics and contributions from authors who are strongly connected to the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and its people. In addition, the work branches out beyond the traditional subjects of social sciences and humanities to include contributions on art, photography, and design. This variety of approaches and perspectives provides moral and political insights on the full range of vulnerabilities – such as emotional, bodily, cognitive, and ecological – that pertains to nuclear harm. This book will be of much interest to students of critical war studies, nuclear weapons, World War II history, Asian History and International Relations in general.

Sin ser biografía de Josaphat propiamente dicha, la obra describe una parte de su interesante vida y por otro lado, en el relato de la misma, pueden captarse los momentos históricos que se vivían, en ambos países, llegando hasta la vida posrevolucionaria de México.

Hay que leer con atención el libro y uno se va dando cuenta, poco a poco, de que se trata de un texto de secretos vasos comunicantes, de caprichos muy personales, donde el cine es un pretexto para hablar de historia, de filosofía, de trivia, de dudas o incluso de modelos de construcción dramática. He leído estas Imágenes escritas de un soplo y uno se va dando cuenta de que los textos no sólo fueron concebidos para publicaciones aisladas. Hay textos que no existen sino en este Libro. Ellos sirven de tejido interno para que el volumen haya sido levantado casi como una novela cinéfila, en la cual hay un planteamiento a través de la prehistoria (los Lumiere, Mélies, Caligari, Stroheim, el slapstick, Murnau, Dreyer ... ), se abre el horizonte con los que atravesaron del mudo al sonoro (Von Sternberg, Lang, Renoir, Ford .. .), para luego entrar en el territorio de los conflictos (Welles, Hawks, Powell, Reed, Donen, De Sica, en fin, Ozu, Mann, Ray ... ), llegar a los mejores clímax del cinéma d\'auteur (Truffaut, Fellini, Wilder, Visconti, Bergman ... ) hasta cabalgar en desenlaces abiertos en los que González mezcla a Coppola con Víctor Erice y concluye, como buen crítico de la ciudad de Medellín, con Wim Wenders.
