Tres hombres que regresaron del abismo para contar lo vivido. ¿Cómo se vuelve de la guerra? ¿Cómo sigue la vida de quien estuvo al borde de la muerte? El autor narra la vida de estos tres hombres antes, durante y después de la guerra y analiza la culpa de los sobrevivientes y el pacto de silencio que potenció el drama. Tres testimonios que rompen con el manto de olvido que les impuso la sociedad y que los obligó a permanecer durante muchos años dentro de la isla que cada uno había construido en su interior. El sobreviviente que no se perdona estar vivo va por la vida sin vida, avanza pesado, arrastrando la piedra de la culpa, mirando siempre hacia ese pasado donde casi murió, donde otros murieron. El sobreviviente que no suelta la culpa es un náufrago en el mar de los días.
