También los distintos motivos políticos, económicos y religiosos que los trajeron a estas tierras. Todos los acontecimientos se basan en una historia increíble e interesante donde, una mujer extranjera de tan solo catorce años, se empezó a abrir paso en nuestro país… México, logrando ser una mujer de éxito a pesar de no conocer el idioma a su llegada y a base de enormes esfuerzos. Respetada por los que la conocían, Mexicanos y Libaneses…Pero también odiada y temida por su carácter indomable. La novela es enmarcada en un ambiente con pasajes de Irak, Siria, Líbano y también México. En Medio Oriente los datos se remontan a la época del Rey Faisal I y Laurence de Arabia; cuando la Gran Siria, estaba unificada en los países que hoy son independientes: Siria, Líbano, Irak,Jordania y Cisjordania eran una sola nación que estaba gobernada por el Príncipe Faisal. Después de la separación de La Gran Siria, Faisal I, es nombrado Rey de Irak. Todo aquello sucedió bajo el dominio de los Turcos en donde William Laurence (Laurence de Arabia), con el apoyo del Príncipe y los Ingleses, unió a los pueblos árabes; más que nada nómadas. Beduinos que intentaban revelarse contra los Turcos, esto poco antes de la primera guerra mundial. También en estas páginas, se pone en claro cómo mucha gente de distintos países árabes migra a Líbano huyendo de la represión y persecución por sus creencias, situación económica y política que predominaba; y cómo muchos cristianos ortodoxos, entre ellos una enorme cantidad de armenios, que fueron asesinados a manos de los Turcos y de esto, hasta la fecha no se quiere hablar, pero que fue el primer genocidio registrado en el siglo XX. El padre de la protagonista era el Primer Ministro bajo el liderazgo de Faisal, cuando todavía existía ‘‘La Gran Siria’’; su familia se cobijaba bajo la religión cristiano ortodoxa; ella te- nía tan solo 4 años cuando su padre fue asesinado y la familia completa llevada a un campo de concentración en medio del desierto entre Siria e Irak. Describe de manera, a veces cruda, cómo su vida cambia por completo a partir de ese momento y cómo al final de cuentas, reciben asilo político por parte del gobierno de Líbano en donde les dan su nacionalidad, al igual que a tantos migrantes de otros países árabes, que su madre adoptiva fue Líbano y que ahora, sus nuevas generaciones desconocen su verdadera raíz de procedencia; pero que al final de cuentas, como a un hijo adoptivo que no sabe quién lo parió, sabe y se identifica con la madre que lo formó y amó. En ésta particular historia, la familia de 9 hermanos; entre ellos, la protagonista como hija única en medio de hermanos varones; es la menor que ve y aprende de su madre Zaquille cómo saca adelante a toda la familia. ‘‘La Matriarca que vino del Líbano’’, nos devuelve la fuerza para luchar y seguir adelante a pesar de las crisis nacionales e internacionales; ya que cada época, cada país, cada familia, cada indivi- duo, ha tenido sus guerras que lidiar… situaciones políticas y económicas que a veces nos llevan al desánimo; pero que nos hacen saber que hubo gente… y que seguirá habiendo, que con trabajo honesto y valores inquebrantables sale adelante con orgullo y la cabeza en alto como lo hizo… la protagonista… Mi abuela. … ‘‘En honor a todos nuestros inmigrantes que con su valor, nos dieron patria en América . . ¡Gracias… ! ’’.
