Food Safety And Quality Law A Transnational Perspective written by Vera Parisio and has been published by G Giappichelli Editore this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-17 with Law categories.

This book features a series of essays on the most important issues regarding food safety and quality law. Consumer health is increasingly connected to food production, localization and free circulation of food products in Europe and worldwide. The global market is ruled by a complex and transnational network of sources of law: international, European, national and regional laws, in addition to private contracts and standards. Food law has been progressively concerned with the common concept of food as a cultural heritage to be defended from fraud, counterfeiting and improper business practices. Food security and quality issues have to be solved in order to meet the expectations of future generations and according to the principle that the current generation is merely the guardian of natural resources. The conviction has been gaining ground that food is a form of biodiversity to be protected both locally and globally.VERA PARISIO is full professor of Administrative Law at the University of Brescia. She is currently teaching Administrative Law, Environmental Law and Administrative Law for Health and Wealth (within the Program “Science and technology for population health and wealth”). She is the author of works on administrative procedure, public services, administrative justice and environmental law. In the field of environmental protection and natural resources management, she has edited La fruizione dell’acqua e del suolo e la protezione dell’ambiente tra diritto interno e principi sovranazionali, Milan, 2010; The Water Supply Service in Europe. Austrian, British, Dutch, Finnish, German and Romanian Experiences, Milan, 2013.

On Rules written by Gherardo Colombo and has been published by Amsterdam University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-13 with Social Science categories.

When talking about justice, we mean more than its day-today administration involving offi cials, institutions, and those most affected. We also refer to an ideal: a set of basic values which guide living together and infuse the distribution of rights and duties, options and obligations, freedoms and restrictions. Losing this reference point means the administration of justice will suffer too, by having lost its sense of direction. With thirty years' experience in the Italian judiciary and dozens of infl uential judicial inquiries to his name Gherardo Colombo refl ects on the culture of justice and the profound meaning of rules. Without respecting rules, we cannot live in society.

The Republic Of St Peter written by Thomas F. X. Noble and has been published by University of Pennsylvania Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-08-03 with History categories.

The Republic of St. Peter seeks to reclaim for central Italy an important part of its own history. Noble's thesis is at once original and controversial: that the Republic, an independent political entity, was in existence by the 730s and was not a creation of the Franks in the 750s. Noble examines the political, economic, and religious problems that impelled the central Italians—and a succession of resolute popes—to seek emancipation from the Byzantine Empire. He delineates the social structures and historical traditions that produced a distinctive political society, describes the complete governmental apparatus of the Republic, and provides a comprehensive assessment of the Franco-papal alliance.

Crime Society And The Law In Renaissance Italy written by Trevor Dean and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-04-14 with History categories.

Drawing on a wide body of internationally-renowned scholars, including a core of Italians, this volume focuses on new material and puts crime and disorder in Renaissance Italy firmly in its political and social context. All stages of the judicial process are addressed, from the drafting of new laws to the rounding-up of bandits. Attention is paid both to common crime and to more historically specific crimes, such as sumptuary laws. Attempts to prevent or suppress disorder in private and public life are analysed, and many different types of crime, from the sexual to the political and from the verbal to the physical, are considered. In sum the volume aims to demonstrate the fundamental importance of crime and disorder for the study of the Italian Renaissance. It is the only single-volume treatment available of the subject in English. Other books have studied crime in a single city, or single types of crime, but few have presented a cross-section of articles which deploy diverse methodological approaches in material from many parts of the peninsula.

Good People In An Evil Time written by Svetlana Broz and has been published by Other Press, LLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-22 with Social Science categories.

In the 1990s Svetlana Broz, granddaughter of former Yugoslav head of state Marshal Tito, volunteered her services as a physician in war-torn Bosnia. She discovered that her patients were not only in need of medical care, but that they urgently had a story to tell, a story suppressed by nationalist politicians and the mainstream media. What Broz heard compelled her to devote herself over the next several years to the collection of firsthand testimonies from the war. These testimonies show that ordinary people can and do resist the murderous ideology of genocide even under the most terrible historical circumstances. We are introduced to Mile Plakalovic, a magnificent humanist, who drove his taxi through the streets of Sarajevo, picking the wounded up off the sidewalk and delivering food and clothing to young and old, even when the bombing was at its worst. We meet Velimir Milosevic, poet, who traveled with an actor and entertained children as they hid in basements to avoid the bombing and gunfire, and we hear the stories of countless others who put themselves in grave danger to help others, regardless of ethnic background. Faced with a world in which unspeakable crimes not only went unpunished but were rewarded with glory, profit, and power, the Bosnians of all faiths who testify in this book were starkly confronted with the limits and possibilities of their own ethical choices. Here, in their own words they describe how people helped one another across ethnic lines and refused the myths promoted by the engineers of genocide. This book refutes the stereotype of inevitable natural enmities in the Balkans and reveals the responsibility of individual actions and political manipulations for the genocide; it is a searing portrait of the experience of war as well as a provocative study of the possibilities of resistance and solidarity. The testimonies reverberate far beyond the frontiers of the former Yugoslavia. This compelling book is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the reality on the ground of the ethnic conflicts of the late twentieth and the twenty-first centuries.
