Nell’inverno del 1933 Camillo Sbarbaro inizia la corrispondenza con Giovanni Descalzo, scrittore ligure ai primi passi della sua avventura letteraria: il loro ricco carteggio si estende fino al settembre del 1950, poco prima della prematura morte di Descalzo. I due amici poeti toccano una grande varietà di temi: le rispettive difficoltà materiali e famigliari, gli anni della guerra, così come le speranze e le disillusioni delle loro attività letterarie, ma ci sono anche note più ludiche, come la comune passione per la cucina ligure di mare. È un quadro vivace che consente di approfondire le personalità dei due corrispondenti, diversissimi, ma accomunati dal profondo amore per la poesia. Il carteggio, composto da una serie di 31 testimonianze tra lettere e cartoline, è arricchito dalle accurate note al testo di Francesco De Nicola che rivelano molti aspetti inediti della vita dei due poeti e del contemporaneo mondo letterario italiano.

Tra due respiri. Questa potrebbe essere, in sintesi, la descrizione di questa raccolta di Poesie. Tutto avviene tra due respiri: un respiro apre, un respiro chiude. Un respiro particolare che, alla fine, diviene un respiro universale. L'Arte riesce a fare anche questo: trasforma il particolare in universale. Attraverso la creazione artistica, che produce Arte si collega, in un istante, con tutti coloro che sono coinvolti in quel processo artistico, in un qualcosa che rende anche chi riceve parte della creazione. Attraverso il respiro si prende coscienza che tutto respira con noi, e ci si sente collegati a tutte le cose. La Poesia, poi, con il suo parlare oltre le parole, fornisce quel "respiro universale" che è bello percepire, in un istante, portandolo con sé, e sentendo che quell'istante contiene l'infinito. Vi auguro, leggendo questi testi, di entrare in contatto con quell'"universalità" che può rendere l'Arte sublime: in un "respiro universale" possiamo divenire parte della totalità.

Antonio Alatorre reunió, en 1993, trece artículos en los que expone su manera de ver la literatura y de entender y ejercer la crítica literaria. No formula ninguna "teoría literaria" ni ninguna "metodología" (nada más ajeno a sus afanes), simplemente propone su manera de entender dos fenómenos indisolublemente trabados: la literatura y la lectura. Alatorre muestra que el que lee y, muy importante, siente lo que lee, es ya un crítico literario en potencia: con las herramientas adecuadas será capaz de pensar críticamente y de explicar las razones de la emoción experimentada. El crítico no es sino un lector más "formado", más "instruido", dotado de mayor capacidad de recepción, de mayor sagacidad literaria y de la capacidad y honradez para transmitir elocuente y claramente su experiencia de lector. Este "librito" se publicó originalmente en la colección Lecturas Mexicanas de Conaculta. Actualmente esta edición se encuentra agotada. De 1993 a 2010, Alatorre añadió algunas noticias más, pulió una que otra idea (pocas) y corrigió poquísimas cosillas de estilo. Se ofrece esta nueva edición (algo corregida y añadida) para conmemorar los 90 años del nacimiento de Antonio Alatorre.

This volume brings forward a descriptive approach to the translation and reception of African American women’s literature in Spain. Drawing from a multidisciplinary theoretical and methodological framework, it traces the translation history of literature produced by African American women, seeking to uncover changing strategies in translation policies as well as shifts in interests in the target context, and it examines the topicality of this cohort of authors as frames of reference for Spanish critics and reviewers. Likewise, the reception of the source literature in the Spanish context is described by reconstructing the values that underlie judgements in different reception sources. Finally, this book addresses the specific problem of the translation of Black English into Spanish. More precisely, it pays attention to the ideological and the ethical implications of translation choices and the effect of the latter on the reception of literary texts.
