De hecho, este trabajo sostiene que la regulación de los productos farmacéuticos se enmarca en una más amplia preocupación normativa internacional, que es la relativa a la protección de la salud. Es bien sabido que el medicamento es un producto complejo como pocos. Y es que en torno al mismo convergen el desarrollo científico, preocupaciones éticas, consideraciones económicas y una permanente implicación del Derecho. Reflejo de dicha complejidad es la necesaria atención a diversos regímenes internacionales materiales a la hora de estudiar la cadena del medicamento. Cuáles son dichos subsistemas normativos y sus cauces de interacción son otras de las cuestiones que se abordan en este libro.
