Retablo de la avaricia, la lujuria y la muerte es el título con que se publicó este conjunto de cinco piezas dramáticas escritas por Valle-Inclán: Ligazón, La rosa de papel, El embrujado, La cabeza del Bautista y Sacrilegio.La idea de retablo dotaba al volumen de unidad, de conjunto compuesto por piezas independientes pero estrechamente relacionadas hasta el punto de ser necesarias unas y otras para la correcta intelección de un todo. Igualmente es reseñable el carácter incompatible del título que conjuga el concepto plenamente religioso de retablo con la mención de dos pecados capitales y la referencia a la muerte.Las claves temáticas de estas obras, que dotan de unidad al conjunto, están expresadas con precisión por el título. Se trata de tragedias de carácter simbolista (esquemáticas, llenas de sugerencias) protagonizadas no por héroes sino por personajes cotidianos, marginados incluso, donde las pasiones capitales de la avaricia y lujuria arrastran a los desdichados personajes a la muerte, sobre un fondo sacrílego, satánico o melodramático (en el sentido de macabro), según los casos.Ramón Valle y Peña (1866-1936), también conocido como Ramón del Valle-Inclán o Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, fue un dramaturgo, poeta y novelista español, que formó parte de la corriente literaria denominada modernismo en España y se encuentra próximo, en sus últimas obras, a la denominada generación del 98. Se le considera uno de los autores clave de la literatura española del siglo XX.Novelista, poeta y autor dramático español, además de cuentista, ensayista y periodista. Destacó en todos los géneros que cultivó y fue un modernista de primera hora que satirizó amargamente la sociedad española de su época. Nació en Villanueva de Arosa (Pontevedra) y estudió Derecho en Santiago de Compostela, pero interrumpió sus estudios para viajar a México, donde trabajó de periodista en El Correo Español y El Universal. A su regreso a Madrid llevó una vida literaria, adoptando una imagen que parece encarnar algunos de sus personajes. Actor de sí mismo, profesó un auténtico culto a la literatura, por la que sacrificó todo, llevando una vida bohemia de la que corrieron muchas anécdotas. Perdió un brazo durante una pelea. En 1916 visitó el frente francés de la I Guerra Mundial, y en 1922 volvió a viajar a México. Por su vinculación con el carlismo en 1923 fue nombrado caballero de la Orden de la Legitimidad Proscrita por Jaime de Borbón y Borbón-Parma.Respecto a su nombre público y literario, Ramón del Valle-Inclán es el que aparece en la mayoría de las publicaciones de sus obras, así como en los nombramientos y ceses de los cargos administrativos institucionales que tuvo en su vida. El nombre de Ramón José Simón Valle Peña sólo aparece en los documentos de la partida de bautismo y del acta de matrimonio. Como Ramón del Valle de la Peña sólo firma en las primeras colaboraciones que realiza en su tiempo de estudiante universitario en Santiago de Compostela para Café con gotas. Semanario satírico ilustrado. Con el nombre de Ramón María del Valle-Inclán se le encuentra en algunas ediciones de ciertas obras su época modernista, así como en un texto igualmente de su época modernista, que responde a una particular autobiografía. No sólo él mismo toma a veces este nombre durante esta época literaria, sino que también Rubén Darío igualmente así le declama en la Balada laudatoria que envía al Autor el Alto Poeta Rubén (1912). Por otra parte, tanto en la firma ológrafa que aparece en todos sus textos manuscritos, como en el membrete del papel timbrado que utiliza, sólo indica Valle-Inclán, a secas.

On October 14-19, 1990, the 6th International Conference on the Conservation of Earthen Architecture was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sponsored by the GCI, the Museum of New Mexico State Monuments, ICCROM, CRATerre-EAG, and the National Park Service, under the aegis of US/ICOMOS, the event was organized to promote the exchange of ideas, techniques, and research findings on the conservation of earthen architecture. Presentations at the conference covered a diversity of subjects, including the historic traditions of earthen architecture, conservation and restoration, site preservation, studies in consolidation and seismic mitigation, and examinations of moisture problems, clay chemistry, and microstructures. The vast majority of plastic products are made from petroleum-based synthetic polymers that do not degrade in a landfill or in a compost-like environment. "The world water problems are a due to bad governance, not to physical water scarcity." This book is inspired by this statement and explores whether it holds in a specific country, Spain, where climatic conditions – Spain is one of the most arid countries of the European Union - would fully justify saying that water problems are due to physical water scarcity. The metrification of water uses and their monetary value is a first important step in understanding how reallocation of water among users could help mitigating many of current water problems in Spain.
