Una “controscuola” del Sessantotto romano. Il volume ricostruisce l’esperienza pedagogica della «Scuola 725» (1968-1973), attivata a Roma nella baraccopoli dell’Acquedotto Felice da don Roberto Sardelli (1935-2019), esponente di rilievo del dissenso cattolico italiano degli anni Sessanta e Settanta del XX secolo. Sulla base degli studi esistenti e dell’analisi di fonti archivistiche e giornalistiche, alcune delle quali già pubblicate, altre ancora inedite, il volume ci restituisce un affresco delle vicende della «Scuola 725»: il ruolo che essa ha avuto nella formazione della coscienza critica e democratica dei giovani baraccati; le principali caratteristiche e finalità delle sue iniziative culturali e didattiche; la sua partecipazione alle lotte per il diritto alla casa e, più in generale, per l’universalizzazione e l’applicazione concreta dei diritti sociali e per il rispetto della dignità umana. Il volume riproduce anche documenti e testimonianze che consentono sia di approfondire il pensiero di Roberto Sardelli sia di presentare in maniera più efficace il contenuto etico e le attività della «Scuola 725».

Il volume raccoglie, in una versione ampliata, i contributi presentati in occasione del seminario ‘Educazione e politica nell’Italia repubblicana’, svoltosi presso il Dipartimento di Scienze della Formazione Roma Tre, il 12 maggio del 2022. Il volume intende mettere in luce, nel confronto tra storici contemporaneisti e storici dell’educazione, come, nella storia delle complesse vicende che hanno riguardato il sistema formativo italiano dalla ricostruzione post-bellica in poi, sia stata operante una contraddizione espressa in un dualismo tra gli ideali di uguaglianza e democrazia sanciti e garantiti dall’entrata in vigore della nuova Carta Repubblicana nel 1948, e il permanere negli apparati amministrativi, nella mentalità ancora assai diffusa nel corpo docente di allora di una concezione ideologica e politica espressione delle élites borghesi e dei precedenti ceti dirigenti, che animarono l’edificazione dello Stato unitario a partire dal secondo Ottocento. Le questioni indagate da studiosi accreditati ma anche da giovani ricercatori seguono tre traiettare tematiche: categorie, linguaggi e pratiche educative; temi del dibattito; i protagonisti. Il volume dà conto del percorso di costruzione condivisa della teoria grounded: L’inclusione si costruisce facendo: dalla progettualità finalizzata all’etica della relazione, che nasce dal progetto di ricerca biennale dipartimentale “Le epistemologie nascoste. La costruzione del soggetto vulnerabile nell’immaginario educativo italiano. Un approccio Grounded”. Tra gli obiettivi-meta della ricerca vi è quello di individuare uno sfondo integratore che dia conto delle radici culturali dalle quali proviene l’attuale clima normativo-culturale-educativo relativo alle pratiche di inclusione in Italia (Canevaro, 2006; Ferri, 2018) e, ancora, disvelare epistemologie implicite e prassi che legittimano esclusione, patologizzazione e subalternità (hooks, 1990, 1998; Spivak, 1998). La teoria elaborata vuole essere strumento di supporto operativo per la formazione iniziale e in servizio di insegnanti, educatori e professioni a valenza pedagogica.

Questo libro è il risultato di un progetto di ricerca internazionale finanziato e con sede presso l'Università di Roma Tre (coordinato da Stefano Mastandrea). Lo scopo del progetto di ricerca è stato quello di creare un questionario su larga scala per indagare atteggiamenti, motivazioni, tratti di personalità, emozioni e processi di apprendimento in materia di visite museali da parte di giovani adulti. Il gruppo di ricerca era costituito da studiosi di otto diversi Paesi: Austria, Francia, Ungheria, Italia, Nuova Zelanda, Portogallo, Taiwan e Stati Uniti. I partecipanti della ricerca (N = 2.247) erano costituiti da un campione di studenti universitari senza specifica formazione artistica, provenienti da tre diversi Dipartimenti (psicologia, educazione e sociologia). I risultati principali hanno mostrato che circa il 75% del campione totale ha visitato almeno un museo negli ultimi 12 mesi e circa il 40% ha visitato tra 2 e 5 musei. I musei più visitati sono stati quelli di arte moderna. I partecipanti hanno riportato un buon livello di soddisfazione rispetto alle visite condotte. Complessivamente le emozioni prevalenti riferite alle visite erano la curiosità, l'interesse e il piacere; tuttavia, le emozioni variavano a seconda del tipo di museo visitato: godimento estetico per l'arte antica, godimento estetico e interesse per l'arte moderna, divertimento e curiosità per i musei scientifici. Nell’ottobre 2013 è stato organizzato a Roma, dal Dipartimento di Scienze della Formazione e dal Laboratorio di Psicologia Sperimentale dell'Università Roma Tre, un congresso a cui hanno partecipato tutti i partner internazionali del progetto presentando i risultati di ogni singola unità di ricerca. I dati e i risultati presentati al congresso e i successivi sviluppi costituiscono i capitoli di questo libro.
