Cette étude porte sur un accompagnement des personnes en situation de handicap psychique grâce à la médiation de la sophrologie. La sophrologie aborde l'être humain dans sa globalité. Elle vise à se réapproprier et à harmoniser l'être, à unifier le corps et l'esprit. Cette technique est rarement utilisée dans les institutions comme complément d'un accompagnement pour des personnes en situation de handicap psychique et elle a fait l'objet de peu d'investigation. Une expérience d'accompagnement, dans un Institut médico-professionnel,a été proposé avec régularité à deux groupes de jeunes sur une période de dix mois chacun. Ce travail a permis de mettre en évidence la nécessité d'adapter la sophrologie pour qu'elle soit à la portée de ces personnes et pour prendre en compte les troubles de chacun. Cet écrit constitue une première approche qui inclue différents apports pour sa réalisation, tel que le bouddhisme, l'approche centrée sur la personne et la sophrologie. Le lecteur pourra se familiariser avec le vocabulaire et comprendre comment l'ensemble de toutes ces approches aident les personnes en situation de handicap psychique à intégrer leur corps et leurs émotions pour une relation à soi et à l'autre plus harmonieuse.
