NELLA PATRIA DEL PESTO E DEL PIGATO SI E' SVOLTO IL PROCESSO PER STREGONERIA PIU' AGGHIACCIANTE D'ITALIA I principali artefici della caccia alle streghe erano tutti figli della Repubblica di Genova: da Innocenzo IV che sdoganò la tortura nei procedimenti giudiziari, a Innocenzo VIII che è unanimemente considerato il papa che diede il via alla persecuzione delle streghe, passando per Sisto IV a cui si deve la nascita dell'Inquisizione Spagnola. Spaziando dalla soppressione dei culti ancestrali e naturalistici travolti dall'avanzata cristiana (e di cui rimangono solo pochi megaliti e qualche incisione rupestre) all'arrivo delle armate napoleoniche che liberarono i liguri dal giogo della superstizione legalizzata, il libro ripercorre le tristi tappe che hanno portato a fenomeni di intolleranza religiosa e di genere tra i più efferati: condanne di ebrei, esecuzioni di omosessuali, epurazioni di infedeli ed eretici. Although numerous, studies on this phenomenon that had such a profound influence on the political, social and religious history of the late Middle Ages and the early modern age in Europe can never be enough.
