Nel 2014 la televisione ha compiuto 60 anni. Un anniversario celebrato in maniera giustamente pomposa, perché quella scatola di immagini e suoni ha rivoluzionato la vita degli italiani. Immaginare, oggi, una vita senza tv sembra impossibile. Per uomini e donne di qualsiasi generazione. Nel corso dei decenni il tubo catodico è cambiato insieme agli italiani, accompagnandone paure e rinascite, dai sogni del decennio dei ’60 agli anni di piombo, fino ai fantastici anni ’80 e alla rapida evoluzione tecnologica che ha preceduto il nuovo millennio. Un profondo cambiamento nel modo di fare televisione è coinciso con l’affermazione della tecnologia: in principio erano i computer, poi le web tv e la smartphone-dipendenza, senza ovviamente trascurare il cambiamento più epocale, l’affermarsi della tv satellitare che ha aperto la crisi dei canali generalisti. Crisi irreversibile? Non è dato a sapersi, come in ogni settore anche in quello dell’intrattenimento televisivo per restare a galla occorrono idee, oltre ai mezzi per svilupparle. Non si può negare che nell’ultimo ventennio la qualità e l’originalità delle trasmissioni delle tv commerciali e di quella di stato sono venute meno e che a tenere a galla la baracca, attraverso i salvifici punti di share, sono stati programmi che vengono apprezzati da un certo target anagrafico di telespettatori e in particolare telespettatrici. Tv trash, secondo molti, eppure è questo ciò che è più preponderante all’interno dei cosiddetti “contenitori pomeridiani”. Già, gli stessi che, negli anni ’80, presero piede in particolare sulle allora emergenti reti Fininvest e nei quali il pubblico di signore pensionate o alle prese con bimbi da crescere veniva intrattenuto a suon di soap opera, rigorosamente sudamericane (e infinite…), inframmezzate da qualche intervista in studio e da qualche gioco, oltre che da parecchia pubblicità. Nostalgia? In parte sì, per chi ha vissuto quel periodo, e comunque si trattava di una programmazione figlia dei tempi. Come detto, si viveva il sogno della rinascita post anni di piombo nel segno di un generale benessere per il paese. Meno di trent’anni dopo è tutto cambiato e allora quegli stessi “contenitori” hanno invaso anche gli schermi della Rai, ma non trasmettono più storie d’amore più o meno favolistiche, bensì danno sempre più spazio alle notizie di cronaca nera, trattata in tutte le sue sfaccettature, comprese le più delicate e macabre. Sulla carta, il target dello spettatore-medio sarebbe cambiato, visto che l’obiettivo, anzi il sogno, è quello di tenere davanti agli schermi non solo signore/i di età medio-avanzata, ma anche giovani, laureati o non, e comunque quella fascia di italiani, purtroppo ampia, che non lavora durante il pomeriggio. Nella sostanza, però, i dati d’ascolto confermano che il prime time pomeridiano non sfonda presso gli under 50 e del resto non c’è da stupirsi pensando a cosa sia diventata la tv generalista oggi, ovvero non più il mezzo di comunicazione principale per i giovani, che possono fruire della vasta gamma assicurata dai new media, bensì per quella fascia di popolazione più lontana dalla tecnologia. E quindi più facilmente “condizionabile”. This book directly explores the question of why contemporary society is so fascinated with violence and crime. The Fascination with Violence in Contemporary Society posits that the phenomenon is, in part, because we have all become consumers of the sublime: an intense and strongly ambiguous emotion which is increasingly commodified.
