Il corpus della Rivelazione e Tradizione vedica, parti costituenti la Sanātana Dharmā ("Ciò che sostiene e protegge eternamente la creazione"), tratta diffusamente il tema delle due porte solstiziali, quella degli dei (Devayāna) e quella degli uomini (Pitṛyāna). La comprensione completa di tali Significati è possibile solo attraverso un'assimilazione interiore, direttamente sperimentata. Normalmente, per il ricercatore occidentale, ciò costituisce una difficoltà quasi insormontabile. Nel caso specifico esiste un parallelismo notevole con il simbolo delle 'porte solstiziali' della Tradizione Occidentale, che ha le sue radici nel pensiero pitagorico e platonico. La porta degli uomini e la porta degli dei. Al di là del tempo e dello spazio. Al di là delle dimensioni dei nomi e delle forme. La Tradizione è una. Il solstizio d'inverno fa parte dell'armonia universale che trascende ogni dimensione. Nella tradizione occidentale il solstizio d'inverno ha il profondo significato rappresentato dal simbolo della "porta degli dei". Il solstizio d'inverno fa parte dell'armonia universale che trascende ogni dimensione. Ci limitiamo a richiamare i Significati delle porte solstiziali nella Tradizione occidentale, specificatamente quella pitagorica e neoplatonica: L'antro delle Ninfe di Porfirio e Il commento al sogno di Scipione di Macrobio. Al tempo in cui scrivevano, la Porta degli Uomini era situata in Cancro mentre la Porta degli Dei era situata in Capricorno. Va rammentato che sia Pitagora sia Platone, nonché i loro epigoni, avevano teorizzato la reincarnazione. Siamo di fronte ad una linea tradizionale ancora viva e pulsante, che pratica, oltre a teorizzarla, la non nocività verso gli esseri viventi. Tornando al significato delle Porte solstiziali, va anche ricordato il culto del dio solare: il solstizio d'inverno, il giorno più corto dell'anno nell'emisfero settentrionale, rappresenta la rinascita del Sole ("Sol Invictus"), che conduce, attraverso le tenebre, alla Luce. Ed è la Luce che ricercano i viandanti, con il loro procedere operoso. Il solstizio d'inverno è un momento particolarmente potente per qualsiasi pratica operativa di tipo spirituale. I sinceri ricercatori, i viandanti, i giardinieri, sapranno riconoscere nei testi sapienziali i Significati del percorso operativo. I simboli che ci sono stati lasciati in eredità non sono pure speculazioni teoriche o sofismi astrusi: sono indicazioni operative, come tali vanno comprese, penetrate, dopo un lungo paziente, incessante sforzo di lettura, lettura, rilettura, e meditazione.
