La violencia que desde hace décadas se vive en Venezuela, que se ha recrudecido en los últimos años, es una problemática de investigación, pero también, y más profundamente, un drama que afecta la vida de los venezolanos. La misión de la Red de Activismo e Investigación para la Convivencia (Reacin) hermana el trabajo investigativo con los esfuerzos del activismo. Los autores, todos investigadores, al reunirse en Reacin buscan potenciar tanto el registro, el análisis y la denuncia, así como la construcción de alternativas a la violencia que se ha instalado en el país. Este libro, que es uno de los frutos de esta iniciativa colaborativa y prospectiva, presenta investigaciones centradas en la violencia armada y militarización de la seguridad ciudadana en la Venezuela post Chávez, realizadas por un equipo de investigación diverso conformado por psicólogos, sociólogos y dos abogados, investigadores de amplia trayectoria en su país. Esta obra presenta los hallazgos de investigaciones empíricas recientes, de una llamativa riqueza metodológica, que registran y analizan, desde la perspectiva de las vivencias de la gente, las transformaciones en la violencia en Venezuela en el periodo post Chávez. Periodo en el que se ha hecho evidente una progresiva y expansiva militarización del país, particularmente en el área de la seguridad ciudadana, y más grave aún la violencia del Estado hacia su población.
