Paolo Gallo offers a unique pathway toward identifying the right career, finding the ideal job and developing a moral compass – the solid value system that will then anchor the reader in their professional lives. With a creative and engaging mix of coaching practice, management theories, case studies and personal story-telling, this book helps readers to identify both their own compass – which relates to integrity, passion and internal value systems – and radar – which helps them to understand organizational complexity and 'read' workplace dynamics and situations. The Compass and the Radar is founded on a series of searching questions that will enable anyone to find their compass and radar to achieve personal success: · How can I find out what my real strengths and talents are? · Do I love what I do? · How can I find a job with a company that truly reflects my values? · What is the price I am willing to pay for a meaningful and rewarding career? · How should I define a successful career? Key chapters offer practical tools, as well as insights on the trade-offs and difficult choices that everyone will need to make at some point in their career – all of which will underline the importance of having the most robust moral compass. In the midst of a volatile and uncertain world, one in which technology, AI and digital resources are transforming working environments, The Compass and the Radar allows readers to pause, reflect, and consider who they are, what they stand for, and how to remain free.

Translation Into The Second Language written by Stuart Campbell and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-27 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

The dynamics of immigration, international commerce and the postcolonial world make it inevitable that much translation is done into a second language, despite the prevailing wisdom that translators should only work into their mother tongue. This book is the first study to explore the phenomenon of translation into a second language in a way that will interest applied linguists, translators and translation teachers, and ESOL teachers working with advanced level students. Rather than seeing translation into a second language as deficient output, this study adopts an interlanguage framework to consider L2 translation as the product of developing competence; learning to translate is seen as a special variety of second language acquisition. Through carefully worked case studies, separate components of translation competence are identified, among them the ability to create stylistically authentic texts in English, the ability to monitor and edit output, and the psychological attitudes that the translator brings to the task. While the case studies mainly deal with Arabic speakers undergoing translator training in Australia, the conclusions will have implications for translation into a second language, especially English, around the world. Translation into the Second Language is firmly grounded in empirical research, and in this regard it serves as a stimulus and a methodological guide for further research. It will be a valuable addition for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students of applied linguistics, translation theory, bilingualism and second language acquisition as well as those involved in teaching or practicing translation at a professional level.

The Book Of Judas written by Brendan Kennelly and has been published by Dufour Editions this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991 with Poetry categories.

Brendan Kennelly's Book of Judas, a 400-page epic poem in twelve parts, became the number one bestselling book in Ireland. As well as receiving rapturous reviews, Brendan Kennelly won the Sunday Independent/Irish Life Award for the book and earned the ultimate accolade of 'Kerryman of the Year'. Not merely lost but irredeemable, Kennelly's bitterly articulate Judas speaks, dreams and murmurs - of past and present, history and myth, good and evil, of men, women and children, and of course money - until we realise that the unspeakable perpetrator of the apparently unthinkable, in penetrating the icy reaches of his own world, becomes a sly, many-voiced critic of ours. The full-sized Book of Judas is no longer available, usurped by The Little Book of Judas, a distillation of that literary monster, purged to its traitorous essence.

Feminism in France charts the evolution of the women’s liberation in France (MLF) from its emergence in 1968 to the present. Claire Duchen provides a lucid and compelling account of different feminist practices in France, clarifying the divergent political stances and the feminist theory that informs them. The remarkably clear introduction to French feminist theory, notably of Luce Irigaray and Helene Cixous, places it in its wider intellectual and political context and illuminates the complex connection of feminist thinking to other strands of contemporary French thought, represented by philosophers such as Michel Foucault and Jacques Lacan. The author’s role as ‘participant observer’ and her inclusion of interviews with French activists enhance her discussion, complementing the analytical with the immediacy of lived experience. ‘Claire Duchen’s lucid and succinct account is both timely and valuable.’ – Harriet Gilbert, New Statesman ‘Lucid, sympathetic and very helpful book on the French women’s movement ... will help us to understand the French feminist world much better.’ – Sian Reynolds, Women’s Review ‘An excellent introduction to French feminist theory which clarifies feminism in contemporary French thought, and includes illuminating interviews with activists.’ - SHE
