The objectives of this paper are to provide British Columbians with information regarding the recent timber supply analysis & the recent request to temporarily increase the allowable annual cut (AAC) for the Lakes Timber Supply Area (TSA), which covers about 1.12 million hectares in the north central part of the province. That request is due to the current epidemic infestation of mountain pine beetle in the TSA. The paper presents a description of the TSA, including a socio-economic profile; an overview of timber supply forecasts made for the TSA, along with sensitivity analyses; and discussion of implications of changes in the AAC (environmental, First Nations, community implications). The paper concludes with background on the timber supply review process and includes a response form.
