'An extraordinary rich study of the power of place in the Northern medieval world by two medievalists, who are also 'compleat geographers' in that they do fieldwork that is always informed by theory and they demonstrate exceptional sensitivity to place's double nature-compelling presence and elusiveness to interpretation.' Yi-Fu Tuan, Department of Geography University of Wisconsin at Madison

This is a revealing investigation into the diverse history of Britain's most stunning sexually-inspired landscapes and monuments. From Stonehenge and Avebury to 18th-century pleasure gardens, some surprising Victorian outbreaks and the 20th century's landscapes of desire, Cathy Tuck shows how the natural cycle of fertility has been a central preoccupation in human monuments, with results that are sometimes awe-inspiring, sometimes shocking and often amusing.

Desire between two, (or even three!) can be found all over the world. But perhaps there are certain places on the globe that stimulate desire, and certainly leave their own particular imprint on the relationship. In this book we travel to Venice, Zurich, Paris, Barbados, and cities as exotic as Rio de Janeiro. In each the duel between lovers plays out in a way particular to each landscape-the Landscape of Desire.

This is the first book-length study in English on Vittorio Sereni (1913-83), a major figure in Italian 20th-century poetry. It argues that a key innovation of Sereni's poetry is the way in which it reworks the boundaries of poetic space to construct a lyric 'I' radically repositioned in the textual universe with respect to its predecessors.

Architectural Projects Of Marco Frascari written by Sam Ridgway and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-09 with Architecture categories.

Marco Frascari believed that architects should design thoughtful buildings capable of inspiring their inhabitants to have pleasurable and happy lives. A visionary Italian architect, academic and theorist, Frascari is best-known for his extraordinary texts, which explore the intellectual, theoretical and practical substance of the architectural discipline. As a student in Venice during the late 1960s, Frascari was taught and mentored by Carlo Scarpa. Later he moved to North America with his family, where he became a fulltime academic. Throughout his academic career, he continued to work on numerous architectural projects, including exhibitions, competition entries, and designs for approximately 35 buildings, a small number of which were built. As a means of (re)constructing the theatre of imaginative theory within which these buildings were created, Sam Ridgway draws on a wide selection of Frascari’s texts, including his richly poetic book Monsters of Architecture, to explore the themes of representation, demonstration, and anthropomorphism. Three of Frascari’s delightful buildings are then brought to light and interpreted, revealing a sophisticated and interwoven relationship between texts and buildings.
