Last Chance written by Larry Schweiger and has been published by Fulcrum Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-11-16 with Nature categories.

"This is an unabashed call to each and every American to moral duty for the future of life on earth," begins National Wildlife Federation president and CEO Larry J. Schweiger in this stirring exposé and call to action. Speaking to us not just as a conservation leader but also as an outdoor lover and a parent, Schweiger describes the causes and effects of global warming on our wildlife, ecosystems, and human life as we know it. With an engaging, down-to-earth tone (and a dash of wit; e.g., "What Happens in Greenland Will Not Stay in Greenland"), Schweiger breaks down the science behind our looming environmental catastrophe. Not letting go of hope, he also offers practical solutions and proposes a plan of action for everyday citizens. Last Chance will inspire each of us to take part in restoring the vital connection to our natural world before it's too late."

Stranded. Hunted. Tempted. When Jake and I jumped into Talon, I intended to come right back. That was before I learned what King Bryant does to humans he kidnaps here-and that to stop him, I must become prey myself. Now Cassis and I must go undercover as human slaves into the mines. Except something about the vampire is different here in Talon. He's darker, more violent? more bloodthirsty. And he wants nothing to do with me. Not even when we're trapped in the same underground cell, not even when the heat between us spirals out of control, making me hungry for things I never even imagined.Yet what Cassis or I want might not matter. We aren't alone in our hunt. Bryant has opened another portal to a world called Lunos and we may run out of time before learning whether it's friends or foes who are coming through. LAST CHANCE WORLD is a full-length dark reverse-harem paranormal romance. This is the fourth and last book in IMMORTALS OF TALONSWOOD, a series from Amazon's top-100 author Alex Lidell. With hot shifter-fae, delicious vampires, and one lone witch, Talonswood isn't your normal reform school.

Last Chance Tourism written by Harvey Lemelin and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-01 with Business & Economics categories.

Concerns over vanishing destinations such as the Great Barrier Reef, Antarctica, and the ice cap on Mt. Kilimanjaro have prompted some travel operators and tour agencies to recommend these destinations to consumers before they disappear. This travel trend has been reported as: ‘disappearing tourism,’ ‘doom tourism,’ and most commonly ‘last chance tourism’ where tourists explicitly seek vanishing landscapes or seascapes, and/or disappearing natural and/or social heritage. However, despite this increasing form of travel there has been little examination in the academic literature of last chance tourism phenomenon. This is the first book to empirically examine and evaluate this contemporary tourism development providing a new angle on the effects of global change and pressures of visitation on tourism destinations. It aims to develop the conceptual definition of last chance tourism, examine the ethics surrounding this type of travel, and provide case studies highlighting this form of tourism in different regions, and in different contexts. In particular it critically reviews the advantages of publicizing vulnerable destinations to raise awareness and promote conservation efforts. Conversely, the book draws attention to the issue of attracting more tourists seeking to undergo such experiences before they are gone forever, accelerating the negative impacts. It further examines current trends, discusses escalating challenges, provides management strategies, and highlights future research opportunities. Last Chance Tourism is a timely and multi-disciplinary volume featuring contributions from leading scholars in the fields of leisure, tourism, anthropology, geography, and sociology. It draws on a range of international case studies and will be of interest to students, researchers and academics interested in Tourism, Environmental Studies and Development Studies.

Last Chance To See written by Douglas Adams and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-31 with Nature categories.

‘Descriptive writing of a high order... this is an extremely intelligent book’ The Times Join Douglas Adams, bestselling and beloved author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and zoologist Mark Carwardine on an adventure in search of the world’s most endangered and exotic creatures. In this book, Adams’ self-proclaimed favourite of his own works, the pair encounter animals in imminent peril: the giant Komodo dragon of Indonesia, the lovable kakapo of New Zealand, the blind river dolphins of China, the white rhinos of Zaire, the rare birds of Mauritius island in the Indian Ocean and the alien-like aye-aye of Madagascar. Inimitably witty and poignant, Last Chance to See is both a celebration of our most extraordinary creatures and a warning about what we have to lose if we do not act soon. Featuring a fantastic new foreword by the authors' long-time friend Stephen Fry, and an afterword from Mark Carwardine that considers what has changed since the book was first published, Last Chance to See feels more urgent than ever before. ‘Douglas Adams’ genius was in using comedy to make serious points about the world’ Independent

Last Chance To Eat written by Gina Mallet and has been published by Mainstream Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-05 with Cooking categories.

Food has never been more fashionable, yet fewer and fewer people really know what good food is. Drawing on a lifetime full of rich culinary experiences, Gina Mallet's irreverent memoir combines recollections of meals and their milieus with recipes and tasting tips. In loving detail, Last Chance to Eat muses on the fates of foods that were once the stuff of feasts: light, fluffy eggs; rich cheeses; fresh meat; garden vegetables; and fish just hauled ashore. Mallet's gastronomic adventures will appeal to any palate: from finding the perfect grilled cheese ('as delicate as any Escoffier recipe') to combing the bustling food department at post-war Harrods for the makings of 'an Elizabeth David meal'. The search for taste often takes her far from the beaten path - to an underground 'chevaline' restaurant serving horsemeat steaks and to purveyors of contraband Epoisses, for instance - but the journey is always a delight.
